There are times when some babies we meet are not fit for surgery. But that does not mean the care stops. ❤️

During our recent mission in Cabagan, Philippines, these little ones spent time with our speech and dental team, who focused on educating the parents on feeding techniques, oral care, and how to support their child’s development while they wait for the next mission.

Each family also received cleft feeding bottles, specially designed to help babies with cleft conditions feed more easily in the meantime.

The past few days in Wangdue, Bhutan have been filled with hope and heart. Our volunteers from across Bhutan, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, the UK and Singapore came together for one purpose – to bring hope for children with facial deformities. Together, they screened 66 patients and performed 29 life-changing surgeries in this new mission site!

Behind every number was a child who reminded us why this mission matters.

CHARITY GALA 2025 | Every year, we push ourselves to do things differently – and this year’s gala delivered a unique, thought-provoking experience, conceptualised by and brought to life by the creative vision of .

A key highlight was the Unplayable Toys – a powerful creative installation depicting toys that are broken, incomplete, or distorted. These toys symbolise the struggles faced by children born with cleft conditions, showing how facial deformities can impact confidence, play, and the joy of childhood. The installation sparks conversations on inclusion and the life-changing gift of surgery for these children.

The evening welcomed close to 350 distinguished guests and supporters to celebrate Smile Asia’s remarkable milestone of over 85,000 surgeries. A memorable highlight was the presentation of the Rebirth Certificate – a symbolic document representing a cleft child’s ability to reclaim the correct pronunciation of their name after surgery. These certificates were presented to dedicated stakeholders whose support continues to fuel our ongoing efforts.

Our mission doesn’t stop here. We have a bold yet essential goal: to eliminate the backlog of congenital facial deformities in Asia within the next five years. And with your partnership, we believe this vision is within reach.

CHARITY GALA 2025 | This year’s Smile Asia Philanthropic Visionary Award honoured the First Lady of Cambodia, Her Excellency Dr Pich Chanmony, for her transformative philanthropy and humanitarian efforts in Cambodia and across Asia.

As the Chairperson of Smile Cambodia, a member charity of Smile Asia, she has led impactful programmes for children born with cleft lip and other facial deformities. Under her stewardship, Smile Cambodia has successfully organised 137 medical missions, providing comprehensive medical evaluations to 10,358 children and delivering 5,751 life-changing surgeries.

The award was presented by Guest-of-Honour Ms Gan Siow Huang, Singapore Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Trade & Industry. Their presence highlighted the shared commitment to a cause that transcends borders – giving every child the chance to smile with confidence!
