A camera does not always need a lens to tell a story.

This September, Studio Downstairs is hosting Crafting Lenses, Framing Perspectives, a complimentary two-day pinhole camera making and film development workshop for youths aged 12 to 25.

Participants will learn how a simple pinhole camera works, build their own camera, take photos, and develop their own film. Along the way, they will explore how light, timing, and perspective can turn an ordinary scene into an image they created themselves.

If you know a youth who enjoys making, experimenting, or seeing the world a little differently, do share this with them.

There was more than one kind of generosity in the room.

As Kingsmen marked its 50th anniversary with its Charity Golf Challenge, Trybe was honoured to be the beneficiary of an evening that brought its community together around the youths we journey alongside.

We saw generosity in the spirited bidding during the charity auction and in people stopping by our booth to ask questions and learn more about our work. When one of our youths was unexpectedly invited onstage, we saw another kind of generosity too: making room for a young person’s voice.

One of the auction pieces carried youth stories into another form — a painting inspired by the experiences of Trybe youths. The artist, Joyce Chong, later stopped by our booth to add her own reflection on success.

What was raised matters, but so do the spaces we collectively create for young people to be seen, heard and supported. The event may have ended, but that work continues through the conversations, opportunities and support that come after it. 🧡

There are many ways an organisation can contribute to a cause it believes in.

As Kingsmen celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, Trybe is grateful to have been selected as the beneficiary of its charity golf event, raising substantial support for our programmes through the sale of golf flights and dinner tables.

But our partnership has taken shape in other ways too.

Kingsmen has connected us with people and expertise within its organisation and wider network, including a consultant for our upcoming Community for Youth campaign. They have also supported the design and sponsorship of our booth at the golf event, donated e-drums to Singapore Boys’ Hostel, and created opportunities for us to raise awareness of our work.

Their team previously joined us for a Learning Journey to better understand our work with youths. Recently, we had the opportunity to step into their world instead.

During our visit to Kingsmen’s office, we saw how pieces and materials from past projects are repurposed and incorporated into their spaces, and learnt more about how sustainability and social impact feature in their work.

Getting to know each other’s work more closely has also helped us see the different strengths each organisation can bring to the partnership.

We look forward to seeing where this exchange of ideas, resources and strengths takes us next.

This August, Trybe is inviting youths aged 12 to 25 to join us for Community Night.

Centred around a shared meal and simple activities, Community Night gives youths an accessible way to spend time with others in an informal setting. It is not about a packed agenda, but creating small, ordinary moments where youths can show up and feel included.

If you know a youth who may appreciate an evening like this, do share this with them.

“Majulah Singapura, Go Beyond!” is this year’s call to keep Singapore moving forward, while looking beyond ourselves and caring for the community around us.

At Trybe, we know that moving forward doesn’t look the same for every youth. It might mean completing school, gaining independence, finding meaningful work, reconnecting with family, or discovering a new sense of purpose.

This National Day, we celebrate the many ways our youths are moving forward, and the possibilities still ahead.

Happy 61st, Singapore! 🇸🇬

Some partnerships begin with simple moments of showing up.

A shared activity. A conversation. A first point of connection with our youths and families.

Over time, these moments can grow into something more sustained. For BNP Paribas, those early touchpoints with Trybe have grown into active support for Trybe’s reintegration programme, GRYT.

Through APAC Community Month, the BNP Paribas employees behind the campaign planned the activities, rallied colleagues, and helped more people understand GRYT’s work and the youths it supports.

We were glad to be invited to their office for lunch, where we got to meet the team behind the campaign and share more personally about our youths.

Partnerships like this matter because they help more people see the heart behind the work, and how they can be part of the support around our youths.

This August, Studio Downstairs is hosting A Taste of Mid Autumn, a complimentary snowskin mooncake-making session for youths.

Participants will be guided through the process of shaping, filling, and pressing their own mooncakes before bringing them home. Beyond making something delicious to eat, the session gives youths a chance to follow simple steps, work with their hands, and complete something they can feel proud of.

It is a seasonal hands-on activity that supports focus, patience, creativity, and a sense of ownership over what they have made.

If you know a youth who may enjoy making their own mooncakes this Mid-Autumn, do share this with them.

Volunteering can create unexpected moments of learning.

Beyond Youth Day, we’re reminded that celebrating youths also means recognising the moments where they lead, encourage and surprise us.

At a past rock climbing session with youths from one of Trybe’s residential programmes, volunteers from an investment management firm came ready to befriend, encourage and support.

As the activity unfolded, there was a simple but meaningful moment: one of the youths stepped in with confidence to guide and encourage a volunteer through the climbing route.

The session reminded us that volunteering is not only about “helping” youths. When the right space is created, youths can also support others, build confidence and experience what it feels like to be trusted.

We’re thankful to our corporate partner for making space for moments like this.

To the youths we journey with, we see your courage, growth and potential, including the moments where you surprise us by leading the way.

Giving can take many forms.

For BNP Paribas’ APAC Community Month 2026, staff came together to support Trybe’s GRYT programme through a series of fundraising activities, including workshops, auctions and a pickleball competition.

More than a campaign, it was a collective effort to stand alongside youths as they find their way back into the community.

Funds raised will support GRYT’s programme needs and ongoing work with youths.

We are grateful to BNP Paribas for choosing to support Trybe’s work, and for helping us continue creating meaningful touchpoints of care for the youths we serve.

Bowling has a way of making the first hello feel a little less awkward.

This July, Studio Downstairs is hosting Right Up Your Alley, a bowling session for youths to spend time with others in a casual and enjoyable setting.

Between taking turns, cheering each other on, and laughing off the occasional gutter ball, bowling creates simple moments for youths to interact without the pressure of a formal group activity. After the game, there will also be time to grab a bite together and unwind.

If you know a youth who may enjoy an evening of bowling, food, and good company, do share this with them.
