Singapore Environment Council

Singapore Environment Council Vision:
To be a trusted leader in environmental sustainability. The Council is also a registered charity that can offer tax exemptions to donors.

Established in 1995, the Singapore Environment Council (SEC) is an independently managed, non-profit, non-government organisation, and institution of public character that nurtures, facilitates and co-ordinates environmental causes in Singapore. SEC’s work is founded on three pillars of action – Firstly, partnership with the people, private and public sectors of Singaporean society, to nurture a c

ulture aligned with sustainable development concepts. Secondly, SEC rewards environmental excellence through awards schemes and product endorsement programmes, such as the Singapore Green Labelling Scheme. Thirdly, the SEC collaborates with partners to develop and implement training and learning programmes to build competencies in environmental sustainability within companies, thus keeping our business leaders ahead of the curve.

Sustainability should not feel confusing for businesses and organisations.

With so many environmental claims and labels in the market, it can be challenging to identify what truly delivers impact. Not all green initiatives are equal, and not all claims are independently verified.

As organisations navigate growing sustainability expectations, adopting recognised ecolabels helps build credibility, strengthen stakeholder trust, and demonstrate a genuine commitment to sustainable practices. Clear and credible standards also support more informed decision-making across supply chains, procurement, and operations.

Choose clarity and credibility for your organisation.

Progress does not have to be perfect, but it should be grounded in trusted standards.

The weather isn’t random anymore. It’s not just hotter or wetter—it’s different.

Inter-monsoon conditions, regional influences, urban heat, and rising temperatures are shaping what we experience. The real signal lies in the increasing intensity and frequency of these changes. While these forces operate at scale, they are influenced by how we live and use energy every day.

At home and at work, simple shifts make a difference—recycle right, use fans where possible, set air-conditioning to 25°C, switch off unused devices, and reduce single-use waste.

Collective action reduces emissions and helps manage these changes. Every degree matters, and every action adds up.

It’s World Environment Day.

The environment does not need perfection. It requires participation.

Climate change is shaped by global systems, regional patterns, and the way we live. While not all factors are within our control, many are—and our everyday choices continue to have a measurable impact.

What we use, waste, conserve, and support contributes to a larger collective outcome.

A greener planet is the result of consistent, deliberate action.
Make it count. Every choice adds up.

Biodiversity conservation does not start in distant places, but in how we live and care for our environment.

From the food we eat to the climate we experience, healthy ecosystems keep our world stable. As environmental pressures grow, protecting biodiversity becomes essential to how we adapt and sustain our way of life.

This International Biodiversity Day, take one step. Choose more consciously. Waste less. Care for shared spaces.

When small actions are multiplied across communities, the impact shapes a more resilient future for all.

As attested by one of our past SEAA winners, recognition goes beyond achievement. It strengthens organisational credibility, builds confidence in products and services, and helps organisations stay competitive in a rapidly evolving sustainability landscape.

By going beyond compliance, organisations can demonstrate meaningful sustainability leadership and a long-term commitment to continuous improvement.

To everyone contributing to this journey, we wish you all the best and look forward to seeing more organisations drive positive environmental impact together.

In conjunction with Ecosperity Week, SEC was proud to support the launch of TR149 and Green 100 as the primary verifier and issuer of Green 100 badges.

“As Singapore advances its green economy ambitions, the TR149-aligned Green 100 provides an important foundation for industries to build credible and globally aligned sustainability practices,” said Ms Isabella Huang Loh, PBM, Chairman, Singapore Environment Council.

The event brought together industry leaders for deep dives on TR149 (led by Iskandar Abdullah), alongside a roundtable on sustainable supply chains in practice (led by Andrew Wilfred), highlighting the need for credible, accessible and practical pathways for SME sustainability adoption.

As part of this momentum, SEC also signed an MOU with the Sustainability Alliance to expand SME participation and strengthen industry sustainability capabilities.

Through Green 100, SMEs can complete basic sustainability disclosure, receive a verified digital badge, and progress across four tiers: Essential, Bronze, Silver and Gold.
