Singapore Environment Council Vision:
To be a trusted leader in environmental sustainability. The Council is also a registered charity that can offer tax exemptions to donors.

Established in 1995, the Singapore Environment Council (SEC) is an independently managed, non-profit, non-government organisation, and institution of public character that nurtures, facilitates and co-ordinates environmental causes in Singapore. SEC’s work is founded on three pillars of action – Firstly, partnership with the people, private and public sectors of Singaporean society, to nurture a culture aligned with sustainable development concepts. Secondly, SEC rewards environmental excellence through awards schemes and product endorsement programmes, such as the Singapore Green Labelling Scheme. Thirdly, the SEC collaborates with partners to develop and implement training and learning programmes to build competencies in environmental sustainability within companies, thus keeping our business leaders ahead of the curve.

Stay Prepared, Stay Protected During Haze

High levels of haze particles can affect our health, particularly the elderly and those with chronic heart or lung conditions.

To support vulnerable Singaporeans during severe haze, eligible individuals can collect government-issued N95 masks (2 pieces per pack).

Who is eligible?

📍Vending machines and Community Clubs: Pioneer and Merdeka Generation seniors, CHAS Orange/Blue cardholders, MFEC holders and ComCare recipients.

📍Community Clubs only: Pregnant women, children aged 7–16 and individuals with medical conditions such as asthma.

Masks can also be collected on behalf of eligible individuals using their NRIC.

The Singapore Green Label is featured as a good practice in two publications from the EcoAdvance and UN Environment Programme series on ecolabelling and Sustainable Public Procurement (SPP).

As Singapore prepares for the possibility of worsening haze, the Singapore Environment Council (SEC) urges everyone to stay informed, take precautions and look out for those most vulnerable.

😷 What should we know?

✅ PSI 101–200 (Unhealthy): Reduce prolonged or strenuous outdoor activities, especially for vulnerable groups.

✅ PSI 201–300 (Very Unhealthy): Minimise outdoor exposure and follow official health advisories.

✅ N95 masks: Eligible residents can collect masks through designated public transport hubs, Social Service Offices and PA venues when the announced distribution arrangements are activated.

💚 Everyone Matters. No One Should Be Left Behind.

Our elderly, children, pregnant women and those with chronic heart or lung conditions deserve particular attention during haze episodes.

At SEC, we believe environmental responsibility goes beyond protecting nature. It is equally about protecting people, strengthening community resilience and ensuring that vulnerable groups are not overlooked.

Haze is also a reminder that air pollution does not respect national boundaries. Preventing transboundary haze requires sustained regional cooperation, responsible land management and stronger environmental stewardship.
