As part of my Final Year Project, I’m conducting a research study to examine the narratives of ā€˜Glass Children’. ā€˜Glass Children’ are individuals with siblings who are chronically ill. Today is World Stroke Day

As a stroke survivor, I know too well that "a broken brain isn't always obvious." Looking at me, you might not see the battles that continue within—moments of frustration, resilience, and growth. My stroke in 2022 changed me in ways that can’t always be seen. Some days are tough, and today feels especially poignant.

This World Stroke Day, I am reminded of the strength within our community. We live each day with courage, and we fight through the invisible challenges others may never see. To everyone out there—those fighting, those healing, those who stand beside us—thank you. Let’s continue to share our stories and stand together, reminding the world that recovery is more than what meets the eye.

ā€œIn general, most people harbour some form of fear of the inevitable — after all, what do we know about what happens after death? Or how we might die?ā€

Most of us carry some fear of the unknown—especially when it comes to death. But for some, this fear becomes overwhelming, turning daily activities like leaving home or crossing the street into paralyzing challenges.

In light of events like COVID-19, death anxiety has become more pronounced, but when does it cross the line into something that disrupts everyday life? Dive into this article to learn more about the impact of thanatophobia and how it affects those who suffer from it.

The difference between general anxiety and a condition known as thanatophobia or death anxiety is that thoughts about death is the trigger and focus of the anxiety.
