Government House turned an empowering shade of orange this evening in support of Zonta International’s ‘Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women’ campaign.
In the lead up to officially opening the Zonta International Convention in Brisbane earlier today, Her Excellency hosted a Reception honouring the organisation’s leaders at Government House on Wednesday evening, that was attended by the 22nd Governor of Queensland, the Honourable Leneen Forde AC, a Zontian and the group’s former International President (1990-1992), and current Zonta International President, Ms Ute Scholz.
Explaining the campaign, Ms Scholz said; "Zonta envisions a world where no woman lives in fear of violence. Through the Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women campaign, our members and allies stand together, uniting our voices to advocate for all those who have suffered gender-based violence. Zonta is needed now, more than ever, to continue its work to end violence and build a better world for women and girls."
Zonta International is comprised of professional members dedicated to empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. Notably, Australia has been a proud member of Zonta International since 1966, with clubs present in all Australian states and territories.
