Today, our Project Pari recipients had an exciting opportunity to attend a Swift Coding Workshop at Apple’s Innovis campus. The workshop was led by our Project Pari Plus recipients, with wonderful volunteers from Apple and Zonta also lending a hand to support the young girls.

For many of our recipients, this was their first time coding. They found it both fun and confidence-boosting, helping to dispel any fears they had about coding.

Government House turned an empowering shade of orange this evening in support of Zonta International’s ‘Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women’ campaign.

In the lead up to officially opening the Zonta International Convention in Brisbane earlier today, Her Excellency hosted a Reception honouring the organisation’s leaders at Government House on Wednesday evening, that was attended by the 22nd Governor of Queensland, the Honourable Leneen Forde AC, a Zontian and the group’s former International President (1990-1992), and current Zonta International President, Ms Ute Scholz.

Explaining the campaign, Ms Scholz said; "Zonta envisions a world where no woman lives in fear of violence. Through the Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women campaign, our members and allies stand together, uniting our voices to advocate for all those who have suffered gender-based violence. Zonta is needed now, more than ever, to continue its work to end violence and build a better world for women and girls."

Zonta International is comprised of professional members dedicated to empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. Notably, Australia has been a proud member of Zonta International since 1966, with clubs present in all Australian states and territories.

An inspiring keynote speech by Rabia Siddique on "The Power of One". There is no way to do justice to her story of life in an immigrant family, s*xual abuse, her military experiences in Iraq and the subsequent suing of the UK Ministry of Defence for race and s*x discrimination.

Her 4 takeaways for us all:
1. Confront our realities
2. Challenge and if necessary change our perspectives
3. Protect and preserve hope at all costs
4. Be prepared to do what is uncomfortable when it is necessary for the greater good

On June 21, Zontians Karin Stenstam and Cecilia Pang conducted the first workshop organised by Golden Z at the Singapore university of Technology and Design (SUTD). Nine students signed up for the workshop on ' turning your internship into a job offer'. The interactive sessions included role plays on networking and engaging with stakeholders as well as discussions on personal branding and dealing positively with feedback. ZCS President Nicki Soffe and zontian Robin Li also helped to facilitate the discussion groups. The students gave very positive about the workshop and we had a fun time interacting with each other.
