Went to Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant at Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy for a working lunch to discuss ideas for The Anchor @ Marine Parade. The Anchor is a charity and community hub connected to the Marine Parade MRT. It houses several social service agencies to serve residents in the Marine Parade vicinity. The hotel management surprised me with longevity buns.

I initiated the project when I was the MP. MOS Goh Pei Ming 吴培铭 is now the Adviser. I remain as Patron. --- gct

The Goh Chok Tong Enable Fund, now in its 10th year, held a charity golf and dinner event last week to help persons with disabilities via financial Aid, fulfilling their Aspirations, and recognising their achievements with Awards. It raised nearly $1 million. I thank the The Society of Modern Management Singapore 新加坡现代企业管理协会 for organizing this event and reaching out to a large number of new donors. --- gct

Attended the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration at Masjid Al-Burhani as Special Guest. They honoured me with a citation of what I had done for Singapore as a Prime Minister. Finally, we soft launched The Anchor @ Marine Parade last Saturday.

The idea to turn the incidental space connecting the two Marine Parade MRT stations into a charity social service hub was mooted in 2019. Then Minister (MSF) Desmond Lee supported it. He wanted Marine Parade to pilot the hub concept for possible regional hubs later.

Residents can look forward to a good range of services and programmes for youth, seniors, caregivers, and more. --- gct

When still an MP for Marine Parade, I started the EduGrow for Brighter Tomorrows programme in 2016 to help children from lower-resourced backgrounds do better in their studies. This programme grew to become The Hut Limited, a charity drop-in centre with its own premise in Marine Parade. The Hut supports and develops children from kindergarten 1 through to the completion of secondary school.

The charity golf game at TMCC Garden course raised a substantial amount for The Hut. Our big thank you to the sponsors, donors, golfers, and all others who helped make the event a great success. --- gct

Swung through Botanic Gardens this evening. I am listening to this American song, “Don’t Let the Old Man In.” It encourages us to keep moving forward, enjoy life, appreciate the present and don’t let age imprison us.
