St Luke's Hospital - SLH

St Luke's Hospital - SLH A charity healthcare provider enriching lives in the communities since 1996 through clinical, social, and pastoral care.

St Luke’s Hospital, named after the patron saint of the medical profession, was the first hospital in Singapore dedicated to the care of older persons.

Today, we are a community care provider supporting needs through our care ecosystem, spanning inpatient, outpatient, home care and community-based programmes, and specialised areas of care in rehabilitation, dementia, wound and palliative care.

An Institution of a Public Character, we care for 2,500 inpatients and 5,000 outpatients each year, regardless of race, language or religion. Through our Clinical, Social, Pastoral (CSP) care model, we transform lives holistically beyond physical health.

Impactful and innovative in transforming community care, we were the first recipient of the President’s Award for Social Impact (2012), and the first community hospital to receive the National Healthcare Innovation and Productivity Medal (National University Hospital – St Luke’s Hospital Integrated Care Path, 2016).

We partnered the National University Health System (NUHS) to pioneer the Patient Appointment Consolidation (PAC) programme, which won the overall Excellence Champion Medal in the National Healthcare Innovation and Productivity Medals in 2017. In 2022, we were also awarded with the National Healthcare Innovation and Productivity Medal for the Community Response Team (CRT) project, and a joint-hospital Improving Mobility Via Exoskeletons (IMOVE) programme.

Through our concerted efforts to build a thriving workplace, we received the Great Place To Work® certification in 2023, a global standard for quantifying and benchmarking employee experience.

Empowering People with Parkinson’s Through Rehabilitation 💪

We’re proud to be one of the day rehabilitation centres supporting the KEEP (Kickstart Exercise and Empower Parkinson’s) programme — a five-year, $4.48 million community rehabilitation initiative launched by Lien Foundation in partnership with Parkinson Society Singapore and healthcare providers.

KEEP supports individuals in the early to mid stages of Parkinson’s through earlier, stage-appropriate rehabilitation in the community. Taking a holistic and proactive approach, the programme brings together physiotherapy, occupational therapy including cognitive rehabilitation, mental health support and caregiver training.

Together, these interventions aim to help individuals with Parkinson’s maintain their independence, function and quality of life, while supporting them to stay active and reduce the risk of falls.

Earlier this year, Mdm Ng’s health took a turn when she started experiencing blood in her vomit and stools. Doctors later discovered a mass in her stomach they suspected to be cancerous.

Transferred to St Luke’s Hospital, the focus shifted to keeping her comfortable and easing her symptoms. But for our palliative care team, caring for Mdm Ng is not just about her physical needs. It also means supporting what matters to her and her family.

Most recently, this took the form of a special makeover and photoshoot — an opportunity to come together, share moments of joy and create memories to hold close.

Our Music Therapy team was excited to be part of the recent PAssionArts Festival, organised by the Bukit Batok East Community Arts And Culture Club 🎉

The event saw more than 1000 participants coming together for a morning of creativity and connection, featuring engaging booths, contents, and performances.

At our “Music Instruments Petting Zoo”, residents of all ages had the chance to try different musical instruments and learn more about Music Therapy. We were also grateful for the opportunity to share more with the community about our services – which are offered by credentialed music therapists across inpatient, outpatient, home and community settings. 🎶

Thank you, Bukit Batok East, for bringing the community together and having us be part of the festival!

Championing Sustainable and Innovative Rehabilitation 👍

Our Physiotherapy team was at the 14th Singapore-International Physiotherapy Congress (SIPC) 2026, where they shared their work in improving patient care!

💧 Hydrotherapy in a Community Hospital:
Presented by Lead and Principal Physiotherapist Fahria Abdul Rahman, the sharing featured SLH’s hydrotherapy programme — the first of its kind in a community hospital in Singapore — using the natural properties of water to support rehabilitation.

🧠 Rehabilitation Outcomes in Functional Neurological Disorder and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome:
Led by Senior Physiotherapist Yap Thian Yong, the case report highlighted the value of a multidisciplinary and biopsychosocial approach in supporting recovery.

🤖 Exoskeleton-Assisted Gait Training for Severe Functional Gait Instability:
Also led by Thian Yong, the case report explored how exoskeleton-assisted gait training can support safer, more intensive rehabilitation and improve mobility.

🦵 Group-Based Rehabilitation After Total Knee Replacement:
Led by Physiotherapist Beh Yun Qi, the project showcased how group rehabilitation can support recovery through peer encouragement, shared experiences and practical tips.

Congratulations to our physiotherapy team for contributing to the advancement of rehabilitation practice. Through innovation, collaboration and evidence-based care, we continue to strengthen our capabilities and support better outcomes for our patients.

Our doctors took a trip back in time for a retro-themed morning of laughter, games, and camaraderie! 🥳

The celebration began with words of appreciation by our Medical Director, Dr Andrew Samson. Following a hearty breakfast, our doctors put their knowledge and reflexes to the test through fun games and friendly competition — including an exhilarating game of “medical chairs”!

A big shoutout to our incredible medical team for the kindness, passion and commitment you show each day, journeying alongside patients and their families across our care ecosystem. Thank you for all that you do! 💙

A moment to remember ✨

Last Friday, we came together to celebrate Nurses’ Day and recognise the heart, skill and dedication our nursing team brings to their work each day.

This year’s theme, Caring Beyond Boundaries, reflects the many ways they support patients and families across the hospital, clinic, home and community. Beyond clinical needs, they listen, reassure, advocate and educate, bringing comfort and dignity throughout the care journey.

We were grateful to hear words of encouragement from CEO A/Prof Tan Boon Yeow and Director of Nursing Alice Phua, before enjoying lively performances by our colleagues — from dancing and singing to acting — as well as an exciting blessed draw!

Happy Nurses’ Day to all our nurses. Thank you for the compassion, strength and hope you bring to every life you touch.
