Very happy to share this meaningful new chapter for the Singapore Youth Philharmonic Orchestra.

The launch of the YST Young Orchestra Academy (YOA), in collaboration with Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, marks an important step in building a more structured and inspiring orchestral training pathway for young musicians in Singapore.

At SYPO, we have always believed that young musicians need more than performance opportunities — they need a serious learning environment, artistic guidance, ensemble discipline, and a community where they can grow with confidence and purpose.

We are deeply grateful to YST for this collaboration and shared vision, and we look forward to welcoming young musicians to this new journey.

A great listening experience for our musicians, especially from an orchestration perspective.

Presented by the YST Orchestral Institute at the Esplanade Concert Hall, the programme featured works by Dmitri Shostakovich, Joseph Haydn, and Arvo Pärt, taking our young musicians on a journey from conflict to reflection and healing.

SYPO Preparatory Class Celebrates CNY! 🎶

Our young musicians are gearing up for their 18 Jan 2026 performance at the National Library with guidance from SYPO’s foundation musicians.

Two festive pieces, 《新春乐》 and 《大地回春》, will be performed, with 《大地回春》 arranged by talented youth composer Chia Ren Cher, bringing a fresh vibe to the music!

🎄✨ Christmas Cheer with SYPO!

The Singapore Youth Philharmonic Orchestra Student Committee organised a wonderful Christmas party last Saturday, bringing us lots of games, food, laughter, and joy!
It was especially heartwarming to see leadership in action, as our senior youth musicians guided, supported, and bonded with the junior musicians, truly reflecting the spirit of mentorship and teamwork within SYPO.

A big thank you to the student committee for their hard work in making this celebration so meaningful. Moments like these remind us that SYPO is not just an orchestra, but a community. ❤️🎶

Great thanks to Youth Space Landmark for supporting the SYPO x TwoSetViolin educational project this past weekend. It sparked a wave of fun and classical music making for Singapore youth.

A heartfelt thank you to all the young musicians and parents whose boundless support made this event such a tremendous success. We look forward to more moments of music, joy, and inspiration at SCAPE.

In 2024, we achieved incredible milestones together: 8 performances, 2 string quartet events, and 1 music camp! We are overjoyed to witness your remarkable growth and improvement throughout the year.

By playing music with SYPO, you’re not only becoming better musicians but also discovering a deeper passion for music. Your dedication and perseverance inspire us all, especially as you balance the heavy demands of schoolwork and exams with your commitment to practice.

In 2024, SYPO delivered 8 inspiring performances, showcasing the dedication and talent of our musicians:
- March: YST Pedagogy Programme “Shining in Space” at Esplanade.
- August 3: World String Day Opening Concert at Gardens by the Bay.
- August 8: World String Day Closing Concert at YST Concert Hall.
- August 11: Special performance at a music competition, YST Concert Hall.
- August 18: SYPO’s first public concert at YST Concert Hall.
- September 1: Esplanade Concourse performance.
- October 26: National Library performance.
- December 23: Christmas Concert “From Venezuela to Singapore” with The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
- SYPO String Quartet Performances:
- June 14: The Arts House.
- July 11: The Paragon, celebrating 50 years of Argentina-Singapore diplomatic relations.

💡 Milestones:
This year, SYPO fostered cultural exchange through international collaborations, supported young composers, and celebrated personal achievements of our musicians.

A heartfelt thank you to the Ambassador of Bolívar Venezuela, Ms. Jessica Maria Lopez, for her support in making our Christmas Concert truly special!

What an incredible evening working alongside Venezuelan musician Sergio Gutiérrez, guest singer Martin Reyes, and Singaporean young composer Nathanael Koh.

We are deeply grateful to the Ambassadors of Thailand, Russia, Egypt, and Cuba, as well as our honorary guest, Mr. Chua Thian Poh, for gracing the event. Your presence made this concert a resounding success!

A glimpse of the rehearsal before our Christmas Concert on 23 December!

This memorable evening was co-presented by the Bolívar Venezuela Embassy in Singapore and the Singapore Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (SYPO). One of the highlights from the first half of the concert was the beautiful Andante Cantabile by Tchaikovsky. 🎶

🎄 Countdown to Christmas: Join Us on 23 December! 🎄

We are thrilled to announce the much-anticipated Christmas Concert happening on 23 December at The Arts House. This festive evening will celebrate the joy, unity, and cultural exchange that music brings to our lives.

Special thanks to Ambassador Ms. Jessica Maria Lopez, Secretary Mr. Daniel Penuela, and Musician Mr. Sergio Gutierrez for visiting us during our Music Camp. Their engaging session on El Sistema and the screening of To Play and To Fight left a lasting impression on our young musicians.

The warmth and generosity you shared, including the delightful Venezuelan chocolates, remind us of the beauty of connecting through music and tradition.
