What a fun and heartwarming night at our chapter meeting! Our theme โ€œBack to Schoolโ€ brought out everyoneโ€™s inner student โ€” and some truly nostalgic moments! โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“š

The class started with Jude's presentation on SIngapore's Pledge which was a necessary start to every school day. ๐Ÿ‘ Special applause also to project presenters Raphael and Eugene for their insightful speeches on Game Theory and Blogging.

๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿป Highlights from the SRC Toastmasters Chapter Meeting on September 24th, themed Oktoberfest! ๐Ÿป๐ŸŽ‰

We had an incredible evening with three prepared speeches:
- Napoleon shared insights about his "tiger mum" and the lessons he learned from her.
- Eugene opened up about his journey as a single father, discussing the heartache and challenges he faced in trying to adopt his sons.
- Anne Lee reflected on her Toastmasters journey, revealing that it took her 10 years to complete 10 speeches, but in the end, she gained the confidence she always sought.

A special shoutout to Isaac and Nancy for winning the ribbons for their table topics speeches! ๐ŸŽ–๏ธ

Our Table Topics Master, Frances Gan, embraced the Oktoberfest theme, and the ladies were dressed to perfection, making us feel like we were right in Germany!

Thank you to everyone who spoke on stage. We got to know you a little more intimately through your heartfelt and inspiring speeches. Until next time! Prost! ๐Ÿป

๐ŸŽ‰ Double Victory for Eugene Low! ๐ŸŽ‰

Huge congratulations to our very own Vice President Education, Eugene Low, for clinching Champion in both the Humorous Speech Contest and the Speech Evaluation Contest at the Area M1 Contests held on 20th September 2025! ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†

The contests, hosted right here at Singapore Recreation Club (SRC), saw Eugene going head-to-head with talented speakers from Mizuho, Capital Markets, and NUS Alumni Toastmasters Clubs.

Eugene had the audience roaring with laughter during his hilarious speech, โ€œAbs-solutely Hopelessโ€, and impressed the judges once again with an evaluation that was sharp, insightful, and delightfully humorous. ๐Ÿ‘

A big shoutout also to the SRC Toastmasters family, who turned up in full force to cheer him on; your energy and support made the victory even sweeter! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

We are so proud of you, Eugene. Thank you for inspiring us with your wit and championship spirit! โœจ

โœจ What a night it is on the 10th September at the SRC Toastmasters Club Contest! โœจ

We kicked off with a hearty Nasi Lemak dinner and lovely fellowship. But the tension build-up right before the contests started was truly palpable.

Each contestant impressed us not only with the quality of their speeches and the strength of their delivery, but also with the courage it takes to step into the spotlight! Contestants for the Humorous Speech Contest are:

๐ŸŽค Jenny Goh โ€“ Letโ€™s Be Friends
๐ŸŽค Dayal Khemlani โ€“ Wedding Made in Heaven (2nd Place)
๐ŸŽค Raphael Lee โ€“ The Great Wall (3rd Place)
๐ŸŽค Burt Choo โ€“ Feeling Nervous
๐ŸŽค Eugene Low โ€“ Abs-olutely Hopeless (Champion)

๐Ÿ‘ A big round of applause also to the contestants and winners of the Evaluation Speech Contest: Burt Choo, Janssen Ho, and Raphael Lee;

๐Ÿฅ‡ Champion โ€“ Eugene Low
๐Ÿฅˆ 2nd Place โ€“ Anne Lee
๐Ÿฅ‰ 3rd Place โ€“ Christopher Emmanuel

In Eugeneโ€™s own words:

โ€œThe adrenaline is still keeping me awake! The night was yet another wonderful learning opportunity and experience for meโ€ฆ Itโ€™s an honour to have been voted Champion of both the Humorous Speech Contest and the Speech Evaluation Contest tonight. What an honour x 2!โ€

He will proudly represent the SRC Toastmasters Club as the sole contestant in both categories at the upcoming Area M1 Contest on September 20th. Go Eugeneโ€”Show Up, Step Up, and Speak Up! ๐Ÿ’ชโœจ

And a big thank you โค๏ธ to Rosaline Phan, who shared that she has missed having Humorous Speech Contests and is delighted to see them return at SRC Toastmasters. In her words, she wished to encourage our champions as they head into the Area Contests by sponsoring a special gift to make the evening even more memorable. ๐ŸŒŸ

Also a shout-out to Chief Judge DTM Mike Rodrigues and his wonderful team of judges and tally counters, Contest Toastmaster DTM Robert Ng, fellow toastmasters and timers DTM Chin Mei Har and Ida Lee, and fellow toastmasters Frances Gan, Esther Eng and Madeline Lee as Sergeant-at-Arms for the evening! Thank you for helping to make the contest a smooth and successful one!

Truly, it was an unforgettable night of fellowship, laughter, and growth.

SRC Toastmasters gathered for a 'hot, wild and wacky' Beach Party-themed Chapter Meeting on 27 August, with all members attending in various Beach-related outfits that set the tone for a very interesting gathering full of vigor and wit.

We were entertained by the very humorous Dayal Khemlani, who provided us with valuable tips on presenting a humorous speech and also celebrated the special day of our August babies.

Mr Eugene Low took the honours for the Best Prepared Speech and Ms Jenny Goh captured our hearts with her spontaneity with her topping the Best Table Topics section.

Get ready for a blast as our members head for a 'showdown' on 10 Sept for the SRC Humorous Speech & Speech Evaluation Club Contest - The Heat is On!
