โจ What a night it is on the 10th September at the SRC Toastmasters Club Contest! โจ
We kicked off with a hearty Nasi Lemak dinner and lovely fellowship. But the tension build-up right before the contests started was truly palpable.
Each contestant impressed us not only with the quality of their speeches and the strength of their delivery, but also with the courage it takes to step into the spotlight! Contestants for the Humorous Speech Contest are:
๐ค Jenny Goh โ Letโs Be Friends
๐ค Dayal Khemlani โ Wedding Made in Heaven (2nd Place)
๐ค Raphael Lee โ The Great Wall (3rd Place)
๐ค Burt Choo โ Feeling Nervous
๐ค Eugene Low โ Abs-olutely Hopeless (Champion)
๐ A big round of applause also to the contestants and winners of the Evaluation Speech Contest: Burt Choo, Janssen Ho, and Raphael Lee;
๐ฅ Champion โ Eugene Low
๐ฅ 2nd Place โ Anne Lee
๐ฅ 3rd Place โ Christopher Emmanuel
In Eugeneโs own words:
โThe adrenaline is still keeping me awake! The night was yet another wonderful learning opportunity and experience for meโฆ Itโs an honour to have been voted Champion of both the Humorous Speech Contest and the Speech Evaluation Contest tonight. What an honour x 2!โ
He will proudly represent the SRC Toastmasters Club as the sole contestant in both categories at the upcoming Area M1 Contest on September 20th. Go EugeneโShow Up, Step Up, and Speak Up! ๐ชโจ
And a big thank you โค๏ธ to Rosaline Phan, who shared that she has missed having Humorous Speech Contests and is delighted to see them return at SRC Toastmasters. In her words, she wished to encourage our champions as they head into the Area Contests by sponsoring a special gift to make the evening even more memorable. ๐
Also a shout-out to Chief Judge DTM Mike Rodrigues and his wonderful team of judges and tally counters, Contest Toastmaster DTM Robert Ng, fellow toastmasters and timers DTM Chin Mei Har and Ida Lee, and fellow toastmasters Frances Gan, Esther Eng and Madeline Lee as Sergeant-at-Arms for the evening! Thank you for helping to make the contest a smooth and successful one!
Truly, it was an unforgettable night of fellowship, laughter, and growth.
