SSEAYP Singapore Contingent

SSEAYP Singapore Contingent The Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Programme (SSEAYP) is in its 49th year and we are proud to be representing Singapore!

Bringing together more than 150 youths from Southeast Asia and Japan, the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Programme (SSEAYP) provides youths with the unique opportunity to live together on board the Nippon Maru Ship for over 30 days. SSEAYP is an annual programme sponsored by the Japanese Government and supported by the member states of ASEAN. The National Youth Council (NYC), Singapor

e’s national co-ordinating body for youth affairs oversees the programme. Key Highlights:

Taking place from 15 January to 17 February 2026, the 49th SSEAYP Contingent will be sailing from Japan and make stops in sunny Singapore (4-8 February) and fellow ASEAN Member State Thailand. Singapore will be sending a contingent of 16 Participating Youths and a National Leader to participate in SSEAYP 2026. The journey promises participants with vibrant discussions on social & youth matters and eye-opening cultural exchanges. At each port of call, participants can look forward to interacting with the local youths, pay courtesy calls on dignitaries, visit local institutions and experience a unique home stay programme.

*Dedicated to the 43rd SSEAYP SPYs who formed this page in July 2016*

Congratulations and Welcome 50th SNL! πŸ₯³

Dear SSEAYP Family,

Wendy was a Singapore Participating Youth (SPY) in 2015, an experience she remembers as deeply formative. The friendships she built and perspectives she gained have stayed with her over the years, shaping how she shows up both personally and professionally.

She is now an experienced facilitator who works with youths from diverse cultural backgrounds, both within and beyond Singapore. Her work centers on self-leadership and expanding perspectives, and she is passionate about creating spaces where young people feel heard, supported, and empowered to grow.

As National Leader, Wendy hopes to give back to the SSEAYP community by supporting the next cohort of SPYs through a meaningful and enriching journey, one where they feel safe to be themselves, challenged to grow, and empowered to lead in their own unique ways as they represent Singapore in SSEAYP’s 50th year.

Please join us in giving her our heartiest congratulations on being selected as the National Leader of the 50th SSEAYP! πŸŽ‰

We would like to extend our gratitude to Anmako Singapore for sponsoring our cultural attire, allowing us to showcase beautiful batik prints that represent the spirit of Singapore and Japan. Participating youths also had the chance to exchange cultural attires during the programme, with different youths donning a piece of Singapore every night on the Nippon Maru!

Thank you Anmako!
