The Group Emblem
Our Group Emblem features a gryphon - an eagle with a lion's body. The eagle head symbolizes alertness and far sightedness, while the lion body represents endurance and might. The rising flames on the emblem are the high aims and ideas of the Scout Movement. The warmth of brotherhood and friendship is captured by the hot rays. The leaping gryphon symbolizes 01 Scout
s' endeavor towards the attainment of these ideals. Early Days
01 Raffles Scout Group (“01 Raffles” or “01 Scouts”) was established in 1934 and was initially known as the 32nd Singapore Scout Troop. The name was then officially changed to 2101 Raffles Scout Group in 1965. We attempted an expedition to Mount Ophir in 1968. It would become the first of many expeditions in coming years. 01 Scouts made headlines in 1971 when 18 of our Scouts conquered Gunung Tahan in a world record time of 4 days and 12 hours. In 1973, we achieved another milestone when we raised $41,000 - the highest sum ever raised by a Scout Group in Singapore - for the Stamford District Scholarship Fund. We have also hosted prominent individuals, including Michael Baden Powell (grandson of Lord Baden Powell, founder of the Scouting movement) and King Carl XVI Gustaf of Switzerland, in 1988 and 1991 respectively. Recent Years
We obtained the Gold Award in the National Patrol Camp - a highly prestigious competition in Singapore Scouting - in 2011 and 2013. To date, 01 Scouts has to its name 4 Queen Scout Awardees, 41 Chief Commissioner Awardees and 43 President Scout Awardees. We had previously set the record of 15 Chief Commissioner Awardees in 1982, and 9 President Scout Awardees in 1974.

Our Philosophy
We believe in character. Our program is designed with the intention to challenge our Scouts mentally and physically. We provide them with ample opportunities to lead and to develop themselves holistically. And we want each 01 Scout to realize his potential. True to the Scout Promise and the Scout Law, we aspire to live up to the ideals of the Scouting Movement.
01 Scouts strongly emphasizes the notion of student leadership. From the Patrol Leaders who lead their individual patrols to the Group Council, which runs the day to day activities, 01 is based on a system that is tried and tested, and unique only to 01. The Scout Unit (SU)
The SU consists of Year 1 to 3s, with Year 3 Scouts appointed as the Patrol Leaders (PLs) and Assistant Patrol Leaders (APLs). There are six patrols - Kestrel, Eagle, Hawk, Owl, Falcon and Kingfisher. Each PL leads a patrol - and the patrol members often look up to the PLs as their “older brothers”. The patrol system is particularly effect in fostering a sense of brotherhood and enabling leadership. The Venture Unit (VU)
The VU is made up of Year 4s. True to the Venture motto “look wide”, Venturing exposes the VU to a wide variety of new experiences, through which skills and personal character development follows. 2 Year 4s members are appointed Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Venture Executive Committee. The Group Council (GC)
Selected Year 5 Scouts are invited into the GC. The GC organizes and executes every activity and leads the Group in all aspects. The GC works closely with the teachers to ensure the smooth sailing of the Group. Each GC member has a significant role to play, and is guided by members of the Advisory Council. The Advisory Council (AC)
The AC comprises select old boys who have formally graduated from the Group. The AC comprises experienced individuals and is actively involved and informed about the Group’s activities and events. They provide valuable guidance and support to the incumbent GC, upholding the standards of the Group.
