Residents' Network Council

Residents' Network Council The Residents' Network (RN) Council was formed in 2019.

The Residents' Network (RN) Council was formed on 1 April 2019, and comprises 40 Chairpersons and key members of the Residents' Committees (RCs), Neighbourhood Committees (NCs), and RNs. The RN Council plays a crucial role in enhancing the capabilities of RCNCRN members in engaging residents, enabling RCNCRNs to bridge residents and the Government in fostering a strong sense of community and socia

l cohesion within the neighbourhoods. The functions of the RN Council are to:

• Enhance the capabilities of Residents’ Committees (RCs), Neighbourhood Committees (NCs) and Residents’ Networks (RNs) in promoting neighbourliness through outreach and engagement initiatives;
• Spearhead innovative programmes and refreshing initiatives to raise awareness of RCNC/RNs at the national level;
• Forge connection across constituencies to promote a learning and best practice sharing culture; share solutions on issues that are common across different RNs and provide networking to help all RNs level up; and
• Facilitate collaborations between RCNC/RNs and community partners to achieve better social mixing among residents.

Mdm Lee Siew Lan from Bedok Bougainvillea RN found strength and purpose in her community after the passing of her husband in 2025. As a dedicated Neighbourhood Kaki volunteer, she takes on simple tasks around her estate—small acts that keep her active, connected, and uplifted. Each completed task comes with a small $2 token of appreciation, but more importantly, it brings meaning and companionship.
Her story reflects what the Neighbourhood Kakis initiative is all about ❤️

We’re encouraged by how this programme has already made a difference:

- Over 1,400 seniors have signed up
- More than 30,000 neighbourhood tasks have been completed

Building on this success, the People’s Association is expanding Neighbourhood Kakis to all 97 constituencies by the end of the year—making it even easier for seniors to stay socially active and meaningfully engaged through simple, flexible tasks. The initiative will also be supported via the PA Community App for greater accessibility.

Let’s continue to expand community participation to build a caring and united SG—one small act at a time 💪

🏘️ *From Community Dream to Reality: The "Lepak Room" Story*

When residents, students, and agencies come together to serve the community, Magic happens! ✨

The Journey: A simple community idea at Boon Lay Meadow-Grove became an incredible 2-year collaboration with NUS Architecture students. Through participatory planning, residents didn't just share their vision — they became co-creators of their own community space.

The Partners involved: 5 dedicated NUS students (Moe, Hnin, Andrew, Rachel & Mei Qi) worked hand-in-hand with RN grassroots leaders, alongside HDB, NAC, and the Town Council.

The Results:

🎨 240 residents painted community canvases showcasing neighbourhood scenes

🎲 A living room with games, sports equipment & life-sized snakes & ladders

🤝 Resident-designed, resident-made, resident-cared space and taken care of by residents who can sign up as mini lepak leaders for the day to use the space

Key Learning for GRLs:

1) Start with listening to the community voice - Let residents lead the vision

2) Build meaningful partnerships - Students brought fresh perspectives while agencies provided support

3) Design for ownership - When residents create it, they care for it

4) Think long-term - 2 years of collaboration created lasting impact

5) The official launch on 1 Feb 26 with Sunday Breakfast Club showed what's possible when we truly design together!

🧧 Quintet Estate Chinese New Year Community Celebration 🧧

The Quintet Neighbourhood Committee (NC) recently hosted a vibrant 新年大团拜 on 1 March 2026 that brought the community together in true festive spirit for the Lunar New Year celebrations.

The event saw excellent participation from residents, who enjoyed a day packed with meaningful activities and traditional celebrations, including:

- Interactive games and activities for all ages

*Taste of Mi Casa: Vietnamese Edition*

An initiative brought to life by the Mi Casa Community Volunteers (CVs) together with Mi Casa Residents’ Network (RN), “Taste of Mi Casa” invited residents to learn, participate, and connect through a hands-on culinary experience.

The inaugural session, held at the Clubhouse Private Villa, featured two well-loved Vietnamese dishes, fresh spring rolls and comforting chicken pho. With guidance from a Vietnamese resident volunteer, 30 participants enjoyed an authentic introduction to the flavours and traditions of Vietnamese cuisine.

Residents quickly arranged themselves into cooking, assembling, and plating stations. Teamwork was strong, and the kitchen buzzed with lively conversation, laughter, and the joy of discovering new skills alongside neighbours.

This successful first edition lays the foundation for future cultural culinary exchanges. Supported by the Community Volunteer Grant, CVs in Mi Casa can continue creating meaningful experiences that strengthen bonds and build a deeper sense of belonging in the community.

🌟 Service Providers Appreciation Lunch & Community Clean-Up 🌟

Dakota Breeze and Dakota Crescent RN concluded 2025 by giving their hardworking service providers a well-deserved break! The two RNs jointly organised the yearly tradition event to let their dedicated cleaners and service workers enjoy an appreciation lunch together, whilst residents rolled up their sleeves to take care of the litter picking themselves.

Nearly 30 cleaners and service workers from the Town Council gathered at the void deck in front of Dakota Crescent RN to enjoy a hearty buffet lunch and received a thoughtful gift pack, prepared by the RNs. Together with Adviser Gho Sze Kee and representatives from agencies such as HDB, LTA, and SPF, the RNs organised this special appreciation event to honour these unsung heroes who work tirelessly behind the scenes to maintain our community spaces.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, young and old residents from both estates stepped up to clean their respective neighbourhoods by participating in their Clean & Green activity to pick up pails of thrash, embodying the spirit of neighbourliness and belonging.

As we look ahead to Chinese New Year, what similar appreciation initiatives could your RN organise to strengthen community bonds and show gratitude to those who serve our neighbourhoods?

*Snuggle up with community spirit! 🧸💛 RN Cuddly Craft Workshop brought residents together for a heartwarming evening of creativity and connection*

On 3 December 2025, Woodlands Zone 7 RN came alive with colour and festive excitement as residents gathered for the Cuddly Craft Workshop, organised by dedicated Community Volunteers. This heartwarming event aligned with PA's mission to build community ownership, bringing people together across generations.

As participants crafted their own soft, cuddly creations, laughter and sharing filled the air. Neighbours explored new techniques, helping each other bring their designs to life. The volunteer facilitator watched with pride as everyone enjoyed themselves and learned something new.

Residents beamed with delight. One participant was thrilled, discovering she could create something so adorable. A parent hoped for more workshops, eager to see their kids have such a great time again. Another resident noted it brought back the kampung spirit, fostering a warm, inclusive environment.

This event showcased community-led initiatives, where residents take ownership and make a difference. Everyone left with joyful smiles, newfound confidence, and their own cuddly keepsake. Thanks to everyone who joined and the amazing volunteers for making this happen! 💛 Stay tuned for more activities in Woodlands Zone 7 RN — let’s grow, learn, and celebrate together!

RN Collaboration Story – Soup Buddies

Ms Natalie, a youth and former Buona Vista CC intern, wanted to give back to the community in a meaningful way. With a passion for seniors’ well-being, she initiated “Soup Buddies” — a programme that encourages healthy living through simple exercises and nutritious soup distribution.

Recognising the potential of her idea, the Buona Vista Youth Network (YN) joined in to support and expand the initiative. Together with the Commonwealth Crescent Residents’ Network (RN), they created a sustainable platform where the RN centre serves as both a cooking hub and exercise venue.

The first Soup Buddies session was held on 16 August 2025, followed by subsequent gatherings on 30 August and 13 September. Each session brought together seniors and youth volunteers to engage in light exercises, enjoy warm bowls of healthy soup, and connect across generations in a supportive and uplifting environment.

More than just a health programme, Soup Buddies has become a growing community movement, blending wellness, nutrition, and intergenerational bonding. The collaboration between a motivated youth, the YN, and the RN demonstrates how grassroots partnerships can spark sustainable, long-term initiatives that strengthen the Buona Vista community.
