The Food Bank Singapore

The Food Bank Singapore The Food Bank Singapore is an IPC registered charity founded in 2012 with the goal to achieve food security for all in Singapore.

Our work revolves largely around turning food surplus into sustenance, improving food security while reducing food waste. FBSG is the brainchild of brother-sister duo Nichol and Nicholas Ng, who own the X-Inc group of companies. After observing the food industry for more than a decade - the increasing food prices and food wastage - they realised the need for a food bank in Singapore. In 2012, FBSG

was established as Singapore’s first food bank with the aim of being the prevailing centralised coordinating organisation for all food donations in Singapore. FBSG bridges potential donors and member beneficiaries by collecting and redistributing donated food. Its members are registered charity organisations or special organisations with a designated meal programme for low income and underprivileged individuals and families. Through a network of more than 370 such organisations of all sizes, the food bank serves more than 100,000 families and over 300,000 people with all kinds of food. Driven by its mission to eradicate food insecurity of all forms in Singapore by 2025, FBSG stays in tune with the needs of its beneficiaries and has created unique food related programmes such as:

· The Food Pantry 2.0 - an innovative food dispensing vending machine for our beneficiaries.

· Food Bank Cards - a monthly top up card that allows beneficiaries the freedom of choice to select food based on their preferences.

· Food Bank Central Kitchen - first charity kitchen that uses R&D and Technology to re-invent quality and nutritious meals.

· Virtual Foodbanking - an application that helps to streamline the donation process for all types of foods, by matching donor companies with beneficiary organisations.

· Bank Boxes - donation boxes deployed around the island to encourage citizens to donate their excess non-perishable food.

· The Hunger Report - an annual study to explore the prevalence, causes and consequences of food insecurity in Singapore. FBSG was accorded charity status in August 2012 (Co. Reg No: 201200654E) and IPC status in May 2015. It is a registered member of The Global Foodbanking Network.

Not every child gets to create such core memories..🎒 But we are changing that with our Back-To-School Support Programme.

This is part of a more intentional effort by The Food Bank Singapore to support school-going children from lower-income households, built on insights from our Hunger Report II showing that food insecurity often comes with other unmet needs (and in the case for school-going children, the need for stationery).

Each Back-To-School Support Kit comprises recess and breakfast-appropriate food, drinks, a stationery set, and a cotton tote to carry it all.

Every $13 provides one support kit to a child beneficiary, and we’re hoping to provide 50,000 kits by the end of the year.

Food security is a collective effort that can be built through food banks, volunteers, partners and communities coming together to make a difference, as part of a larger ecosystem.

From local food drives to programmes supporting communities in need, every contribution plays a part in strengthening the food system and keeping good food in circulation.

As part of The Global FoodBanking Network , The Food Bank Singapore is proud to be connected to food banks around the world, sharing a common purpose and learning from one another.

Together, we can keep turning collective action into meaningful impact. 🌏

Celebrating our Nation and 14th anniversary doing what we do best.....

Sharing food with communities 🥫🧃🤝 💚

This National Day, we are reminded that progress is most meaningful when it reaches vulnerable communities.
Through the mass food bundle distribution last week, we provided 1,800 grocery bundles for lower-income households and seniors, and 320 Back-to-School support kits for school-going children from lower-income families, to beneficiaries in Bishan/Sin Ming, as well as that of our beneficiary partners from Singapore Red Cross Home of the Disabled, Sunlove Home, Mercy Centre, and more.

This effort would not be possible without the generosity and commitment of our partner and venue provider, Bishan Community Club, the steadfast support of our food donors, Nestlé, OATSIDE, and Optimo Foods Pte Ltd, led by Ms Su-Lyn Wee, who contribute both donations and surplus food, and our dedicated regular and community volunteers from organisations like Kranji Way and Jalan Tukang, and Chee Hoon Kog Moral Promotion.
Every packed bundle, every delivery, and every helping hand reflects the spirit of a community that looks out for one another.

As we celebrate how far Singapore has come, let's remember that food is a bridge between economic progress and the basic human need for dignity, security, and hope. Together, we can build a future where no one is left behind—and where every table has enough to share.

Every food drive begins with one simple decision: to help. 💚

When a community comes together, each food item donated becomes part of something much bigger. Together, these donations help ensure essential food reaches those who need it most.

Whether you're a company, school, community group or club, organising a food drive is a meaningful way to strengthen food security in Singapore.

A special thank you to Jeep Owners' Club Singapore for partnering with us and showing how communities can make an impact.
