Gim Choo Ng completes her EdD in Leadership and Innovation from NYU Steinhardt this year, at age 73, joining our global learning community from her home in Singapore. A lifelong educator and founder of the EtonHouse International Education Group, she entered the program seeking intellectual challenge, community, and continued growth after stepping back from day-to-day operations at her organization.
Throughout her studies, she found connection in a diverse cohort and support from faculty who made it possible for her to defend her dissertation early—an act of care that became even more meaningful as she navigated her husband’s illness. She shared news of her successful defense with him at the hospital, just days before his passing.
Now, she’s focused on advancing peace education for young learners, mentoring entrepreneurs, and writing her memoir—a story that traces her path from accountant to housewife to international educational leader.
Her advice to future students: Be confident, believe in yourself, and work hard. At any age, it’s possible to keep learning and build the life you want.
