Founded in March 2000, MDAS is managed by healthcare professionals, volunteers, those with Muscular Dystrophy(MD) and their families. MDAS caters to Anyone with MD and their families.

A day of creativity, connection and community! 💜

We were happy to be part of PA Cares @ President’s Challenge 2026, where we shared more about muscular dystrophy through art, interactive activities and music.

At our booth, visitors took on “Reach for the Arts”, an activity inspired by some of the physical challenges people with muscular dystrophy may face. Using a marker attached to a long stick, participants had to recreate a reference picture from a distance. What seemed like a simple drawing task became a fun way to experience how differences in reach, strength and movement can affect everyday activities. 🎨

We also showcased artworks created by our members, with Wang Shuo demonstrating his skills through a live painting session. President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Guest-of-Honour, visited our booth and took time to speak with Wang Shuo during the demonstration.

To round off the day, MDAS members, Saifudeen and Hong Wei joined Volunteer Guitar Connection for a heartfelt rendition of “A Million Dreams”. 🎶

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, gave “Reach for the Arts” a try and spent time learning more about muscular dystrophy. 💜

At MDAS Go The Dystance carnival on 5 Sep, The Creative Chair booth became a canvas for the community to come together and create! Drawing with colourful acrylic markers on mahjong paper, participants added their own creative touches to two community drawings — Icons of Singapore and Faces of Singapore.

From familiar sights and symbols to the many faces that make Singapore home, these artworks done together with our MDAS artists, are a wonderful reflection of the creativity, diversity and community spirit we share. Take a closer look at the drawings and see if you can spot some of your favourite Singapore icons and expressions! 👀

Our Go the Dystance 2026 Carnival was packed with games to conquer, activities to try and moments worth capturing. 📸 And of course, plenty of meaningful moments shared with our members, families, volunteers, partners and supporters. 🎉

What a day! We went the Dystance together! 💙

The Go the Dystance 2026 Carnival, held at Digital District, brought our community together for a day filled with games, activities, laughter and meaningful moments. 🎯🎉

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers from Bank of America and our partners, JTC Corporation, Building and Construction Authority, Volunteer Guitar Connection and ST Engineering! We are so grateful to have Ms Yeo Wan Ling, MP for Punggol GRC to grace our event 📣 And we cannot forget our MDAS members, volunteers, staff and everyone who came down and made the day so special. 🫶

But while the carnival may be over, Go the Dystance is about more than one day. It’s about supporting persons living with muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular conditions through every step of their journey.

Access Changes Lives 👩‍🦼

For people living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), access to the right care, support, opportunities and inclusion can make a meaningful difference.

In recognition of World Duchenne Awareness Day 2026 that happened on 7 September, we spoke to two of our members about what living with DMD means to them, why access matters, and what they want others to know about DMD.

Because when barriers are removed and opportunities are made accessible, lives can change. 💙
