【东运前瞻】MMA纳入示范运动 翁清海:为亚运备战

  综合格斗(MMA)将在来临的泰国东南亚运动会首次被列为表演项目(会发奖牌,但不列入奖牌荣誉榜),但也是演员的新加坡综合武道协会主席翁清海希望通过培养本地人材取得佳绩,更要为明年亚运做好充分准备。
  MMA是一项注重体能、徒手搏斗,以及融合多项格斗技巧以取得胜利的格斗运动,近年在世界各地快速发展。
  有别于外界的刻板印象,MMA不仅取决于运动员的体能和技巧,对规则的理解和运用同样关键。翁清海表示:“你或许技术更好,但如果不理解如何运用规则也可能会输,所以训练本身非常重要。由于今年是首次参赛,目前仍难以预测结果,也许今年之后大家会对比赛更清楚,也能做出预测。”
  作为前国家运动员的翁清海表示,这是他回馈新加坡体坛的方式,也希望把自己的经验分享给更多人。他透露新加坡综合武道协会虽只成立两年,但自MMA确认纳入明年亚运后,他相信会有越来越多的人对格斗和武术产生兴趣,并透露协会已准备在明年举办全国锦标赛,借此发掘更多优秀MMA运动员。(图:新明日报)

Congratulations to Ms. May Ooi (Deputy Chief Referee) and Mr. Yang Yang (Arbitration Referee) on their outstanding appointments. Their dedication and professionalism continue to elevate Singapore’s presence in the regional martial arts landscape.

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) to Make Its Exciting Debut at the 33rd SEA Games, Thailand 2025!

For the first time ever, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) will be featured as a demonstration sport at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand!
The competition will take place from 10 to 11 December 2025 in Bangkok.

The MMA competition will feature six (6) events:
• Men’s Events
• Traditional 56KG
• Modern 60KG
• Modern 65KG
• Women’s Events
• Traditional 54KG
• Modern 54KG
• Modern 60KG

All participating athletes must be at least 18 years old in 2025.

The Mixed Martial Arts Association of Singapore (MMAAS) is the newly established National Sports Association formed to promote competitive Mixed Martial Arts in Singapore, following the AMMA rule-set.

MMAAS invites aspiring combat sports athletes who are keen to represent Singapore as part of the National Team to submit their applications.

In recognition of Singapore’s vibrant combat sports scene, MMAAS will adopt a decentralised approach to athlete selection.

Initial selection criteria include:
• Minimum age of 18 years in 2025
• Participation in at least 3 competitive fights at the amateur or professional level
• Submission of fight records and/or highlight reels of competitive bouts

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the MMAAS Selection Team. MMAAS will work closely with your coaches and gyms to provide additional training support and resources, including centralised national team training and overseas boot camps, while allowing you to continue your regular training with your current coaches and facilities.
