Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.
Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we shall return.

MUIS is deeply saddened by the passing of Almarhum Haji Shafawi bin Ahmad, a highly respected community leader whose demise is a great loss to the Singapore Muslim community and the nation.

Almarhum dedicated his life to serving the community through MUIS, the mosque and madrasah sectors, and as a founding member of Yayasan MENDAKI. He was MUIS’s longest-serving Council Member (1986–2020) and also served as Acting President and Vice President.

He led the Haj Pilgrimage Committee for over two decades, ensuring the welfare of Singapore’s pilgrims, and played pivotal roles in national madrasah education and mosque development.

For his lifelong service, Almarhum received multiple national and community honours, including the MUIS Jasa Cemerlang Award (2020).

Our heartfelt condolences to his family. May Allah s.w.t. forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him the highest ranks in Jannah. Al-Fatihah.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Raj, a cherished member of our alumni committee. His unwavering dedication and service over the years left an indelible mark on our community. Mr. Raj’s efforts warmth and kindness will be missed by all who knew him. His contributions will always be remembered.
