Syawal is coming to an end and as the Aidilfitri festivities draw to close, APAD is organising its annual Hari Raya Gathering to bring our members together in celebration and feasting to look forward as we kickstart the year's activities. 𝑪𝒊𝒑𝒕𝒂 - 𝑨𝒓𝒕 𝑻𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝑻𝒊𝒎𝒆 was held from 1–5 August 2025 at the School of the Arts (SOTA) Gallery. The exhibition marks APAD's 54th annual exhibition since it was established in 1962. Featuring 50 artworks across various mediums, it was well attended and warmly received, with media coverage by The Straits Times and BERITAmediacorp that highlighted our pioneers, current artists, and emerging talents.

The Opening on 2 August 2025 was officiated by Guest-of-Honour, Assoc Prof Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs and Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs, who gave a speech, along with our APAD President Masturah Sha'ari, in the presence of members and esteemed guests. This was followed by an exhibition tour, where the artists spoke about their works and practice.

Supported by Maya Gallery Singapore, The Singapore Arts Federation, SG60 Bersama, and Lee Foundation, this commemorative showcase celebrated SG60, alongside APAD’s 63rd anniversary of championing the development and appreciation of visual arts in Singapore.

Presiden Apad, Cik Masturah Sha’ari, yang juga seorang pelukis dan pemilik bersama Maya Gallery, berkata beliau terharu melihat keluarga, kanak-kanak, dan juga orang kurang upaya turut mengambil bahagian dalam proses pewarnaan mural itu.

“Motif mural bukan sahaja mencerminkan warisan, budaya dan tradisi Melayu tetapi juga nilai silaturrahim. Proses kolaboratif ini menunjukkan masyarakat kami terbuka untuk kerjasama.

“Menerusi kerjasama seperti ini, kita dapat saling memahami dan menjadi lebih sedar tentang masyarakat masing-masing,” jelas Cik Masturah.

APAD President Masturah Sha'ari attended SG60 Bersama: Satu Hati, Seribu Bakti at Wisma Geylang Serai on 29 Nov 2025. The event was in celebration of the accomplishments of the SG60 Bersama Workgroup (in which APAD is a member), throughout this commemorative year 🎉 Graced by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, the full day of activities culminated in the Gentarasa concert, as well as special recognition of the SG60 Community Mural, designed by Angkatan Pelukis Aneka Daya (APAD), with support of Wisma Geylang Serai, as a reflection of heritage, unity, and spirit of collaboration of the Malay/Muslim community.

APAD ARTISTS AT WORK! 🎨Take a peek into what went on behind the SG60 Bersama Community Mural, during Warna Warisan Kita, part of Bulan Bahasa at WGS last August.

From preparing the colours and painting materials, facilitating the co-creation process with the community, guiding you to paint in the colours, allowing you to add your mark to the development of the mural, to answering your questions on the motifs and structures, and adding the finishing touches to this long, 15-metre artwork, our dedicated APAD members were there all the way. Here’s to the spirit of 𝑔𝑜𝑡𝑜𝑛𝑔-𝑟𝑜𝑦𝑜𝑛𝑔!❤️

Thank you to Dr. Faishal Ibrahim, Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs and Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs and Ms. Hazlina Abdul Halim, MP for East Coast GRC, for adding their creative touches to the SG60 Bersama Community Mural, during Warna Warisan Kita, part of Bulan Bahasa at WGS last August!

Also welcomed members of the SG60 Bersama Workgroup, representatives from Malay/Muslim organisations, family, friends, and those involved in this event.

APAD members were there to facilitate and guide community participants to paint in the colours, allowing them to add their mark to the mural. It was wonderful to have families, seniors, children, and people from all walks of life, including those with disabilities, join in and interacting with one another.
