Our Mentor Coaching Lens journey advanced from foundational concepts into the true essence of PCC-level mentoring.

This regional learning experience was made possible by our cross-chapter collaboration. Thank you to our partner chapters from Malaysia, Philippines, Hong Kong, and Taiwan for uniting with Singapore to elevate our coaching community.

A heartfelt thank you to our speaker, Jedidiah "Jedi" Alex Koh, MCC, ACTC, MCS (ACC, PCC, and MCC). Jedi opened with a vital reminder: the core competencies do not change between the ACC and PCC levels. What elevates the practice is a coach's depth, consistency, and responsiveness. A PCC coach is not assessed on simply saying the "right words," but on ensuring those words arise directly from what the client just offered.

We clarified the distinct roles of educator, mentor, and assessor, noting how conflating them can undermine a safe mentoring space. Through real-world examples, we explored PCC quality reflection learning the profound difference between a summary that merely proves the coach was listening, and a reflection that genuinely helps the client hear themselves.

Key takeaways from our session:
🎯 PCC markers are indicators, not instructions. They highlight what to listen for, not what to say.
🎯 Coaching models do not change lives. Coaching does.
🎯 "Coaching is the experience of being experienced," not a race toward perfect markers.

We also reviewed the ICF guidelines regarding AI use in mentor coaching. A timely reminder to navigate recordings, transcripts, and data privacy with the utmost care.

Dive into Systemic Team Coaching

ACC Pathway Live at The Foundry 🌱

On July 9, we took our practice off the screen. We stepped into The Foundry. This historic venue was intentionally reimagined into a vibrant hub for social impact. That same spirit of transformation filled the room. Across two in-person ACC Pathway sessions, our coaching community evolved. We built deep connections. We united under a shared purpose.

On 16 July 2026, we wrapped up another session of Coaching Skills Enhancement (CSE) Community of Practice (CP) where coaches gather monthly to sharpen their skills through a structured 4-stage process created by Tony Latimer, MCC, BCC.

Key takeaways from participants after they emerge from the practice are - “mind-blowing”, “stretches the mind and heart”, “very structured”, “I got to think on my feet”

The process is designed to systematically elevate our coaching standard by learning how to trigger fresh thinking, shift perspectives, and to turn advice into questions. The monthly community of practice serves as a safe space to stretch our skills under pressure and to learn and grow.

28 July 2026 marked a significant milestone for our Credentialing and Practice pillar. We opened a new chapter through a landmark cross-chapter collaboration. Coaches from ICF Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Hong Kong, and Taiwan united for this event. It was the first regional session exploring the Mentor Coach Specialization (MCS) following the ICF Global updates on June 24 and 30.

Our facilitator, Jedidiah ""Jedi"" Alex Koh, MCC, ACTC (MCS - ACC, PCC, MCC), set the tone early by dispelling common myth. Many assume coaching is asking and mentoring is telling. Jedi reminded us that both disciplines are irreducibly complex. Reducing either to a single behavior misreads the craft entirely.

Across borders, we unpacked the new ICF MCS framework. We explored its regional impact and why the shift toward 2027 matters today. Participants worked through a composite coaching extract. We practiced the critical skill of separating evidence from interpretation. The focus was on delivering feedback that develops a coach, rather than rendering a verdict.

Specific beats global: Vague praise provides nothing to repeat.
The brain hears threat first: Psychological safety is essential for feedback to land.
Self-generated insight sticks: Coaches retain what they discover for themselves.

We examined the biases that shape how we listen. These include accents, fluency, pacing, and first impressions. This discussion served as a powerful reminder for our rich multilingual and multicultural region.

It was a pleasure to be part of Singapore Polytechnic HR Learning Fest, where we partnered with SHRI to host a joint Skills Clinic on coaching skills for the AI era.
In an AI-driven workplace, what makes us irreplaceable? It's our ability to be deeply human — to listen with intention, ask questions that spark insight, and be fully present in conversations.

During the interactive clinic, participants had the opportunity to practise three core coaching competencies:
👂 Active Listening
❓ Powerful Questioning
🤝 Deep Presence

Through paired exercises and discussions, we explored how these skills can elevate workplace conversations, strengthen interviews, build trust, and create more meaningful professional relationships. Whether leading a team, partnering with stakeholders, or considering coaching as a career path, these are practical skills that can be applied immediately.
