What makes a coachee feel truly seen? That question sat at the heart of Dr Marcia Reynolds session.

Raised in a family that encouraged conversation and questions, Marcia found herself in a conservative school where teachers saw her as disruptive. That changed when one teacher chose to sit beside her. For the first time, someone accepted her as she is and she felt heard and seen
It led to a question for all of us: what do we do as coaches to make our coachees feel witnessed and valued?

Recalling our own moments of being fully seen, the chat filled with words like ""understood"", ""validated"", ""respected"" and ""I exist"". A simple exercise, and a strong reminder of what our presence gives.

"What a wonderfully profound and insightful evening!

On the evening of 21 September, coach supervisors and team coaches came together for a joint Community of Practice on Team Coaching and Coaching Supervision. Our guest speaker, Dr Amine Delage, took us into his doctoral research exploring how supervision supports the growth and well-being of team coaches.

What followed was an evening of rich conversations, shared experiences and reflections on the complexities team coaches hold and the role supervision can play in helping to navigate them.

We had a better appreciation of how a coach supervisor can support the team coach in navigating the multiple relationships, team dynamics, stakeholder expectations, organisational realities, the wider system, and somewhere within all of that, themselves too; how they are showing up for their clients, the teams that they are engaged to coach.

One message particularly resonated: supervision is more than reflection, and it is certainly not one-size-fits-all. The more complexity team coaches hold for others, the more important it becomes to have a space where they do not have to hold it alone. And that is the joy of supervision witnessing team coaches grow, deepen their practice, and return to the system differently.

Most of us have known exactly what to do, and then not done it.

The board question you had rehearsed and then answered too fast. The client who said something loaded, and you heard your own voice change before you had decided anything. Around 70 of us spent Tuesday evening in that gap with Ched Lee, PCC, working through Leadership Embodiment.

Her starting point: under pressure, the body wins. It carries patterns learned long before the ones we think with, and it learns at its own pace. So deciding to stay open in a difficult conversation rarely survives contact with the conversation.

The evening stayed practical. We worked in pairs and small groups instead of watching slides. Ched drew a line between Personality, the pattern that fires on its own, and Centre, the state you can deliberately return to, then taught a centring practice short enough to run inside a live conversation.

The point lands uncomfortably for coaches. We're trained to read the client's body. We pay far less attention to what our own body is doing while we listen, and how that shapes the question we ask next.

Beyond the Problem, Into the Awareness 🌿

Our September ACC Pathway Community of Practice went straight to the heart of Competency 7: Evokes Awareness, and how it bridges into Competency 8: Facilitates Client Growth. Great coaching does not stop at solving the immediate problem. It changes how a client sees their world, and then helps them turn that into something they can act on.

Our CP Lead, Jim Livingstone, MCC, ACTC, guided the room through where that bridge gets built, and where it gets missed.

One thing worth naming up front: the room this month held real range. New coaches just beginning their ACC and ICF journey sat alongside seasoned PCC-level practitioners. A good reminder that the ACC Pathway is not only for those at foundation level. Evoking awareness is a craft none of us ever finish honing.

🎯 What surfaced in the room:

We worked through a case study of the same client moment coached two different ways, and the discussion went deep. Across seven breakout rooms, coaches got specific about what they noticed, which version genuinely moved the client, and exactly where the coach built the bridge from insight into forward momentum rather than handing it over as homework at the end.

The learning showed up most vividly when participants shared moments from their own client work: perspectives that shifted mid-sentence, a change of state you could feel, clients who suddenly gave themselves permission to name the harder thing. That is Competency 7 in action.

Then two brave souls volunteered to coach live in the main room. Silence and warmth did the heavy lifting. Every question stayed with the coachee, the coach held a tender and safe space, and what unfolded was a deep and genuinely powerful session.

Mentor Coaching Lens Part 3: Mastery 🌿

We closed our three-part Mentor Coaching Lens series with Part 3: Mastery, Mentor Coaching at the MCC Level, guided by Jedidiah.

Jedi opened with a provocation: what if we did this one without slides? The room panicked for a while 😂. What followed was less a lecture on standards and more an hour of noticing.

The series gave us an arc worth carrying forward:
🎯 ACC asks, can the coach coach?
🎯 PCC asks, can the coach partner and evoke consistently?
🎯 MCC asks, can the coach create enough space for the client's depth, wisdom and agency to emerge?

At MCC, the questions change shape. We stopped counting behaviors and started appraising degree, artistry and whose thinking filled the hour. Authentic, unique, responsive turned out to be far more demanding than they first sound: it belongs to you, it sounds like you, it belongs to this moment.

Other key anecdotes that left us reflecting:
🎯 Mastery is like a cat chasing its tail. Only when it rests does it realize the tail had always been there.
🎯 MCC is less about efficiency and more about presence and being in the moment.
🎯 Receiving the MCC felt like a clean canvas for curiosity again. Not an ending, but a set of new beginnings.
🎯 The MCC mentor coach does not simply instruct or reflect. The work is modelling and being.
🎯The beginner asks what should I do, the expert asks what works, and the master asks what does this moment actually need?

What if the expertise you already have could reach far beyond your calendar?

That was the exciting challenge Edit Ford brought to 77 coaches at our August ICF Singapore Business Development session, “Beyond One-to-One: Turning Your Coaching Expertise into Scalable Offers.”

Edit invited us to look beyond simply adding more coaching hours—and explore how our knowledge could become impactful group programmes, workshops, courses, memberships and other scalable services. But scaling is not about squeezing coaching into a generic online course or chasing passive income. It is about expanding your reach without diluting the transformation.

Three powerful questions guided the conversation:
Clarity: What transformation do you want to be known for?
Capacity: What frameworks, questions or insights do you already use repeatedly—and could now package more intentionally?
Consistency: How do your offers connect, supporting clients at different stages of their journey?

One message captured it beautifully:
Clients do not buy coaching sessions. They invest in the transformation those sessions make possible.

Participants left with fresh possibilities, stronger commercial direction and one concrete next step towards creating an offer aligned with their expertise, audience and business goals.
