Founded in 1875, the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) of Singapore is a social service agency committed to serving those in need, regardless of race or religion. Our holistic programmes and services aim to empower and support women from low-income families by alleviating financial burdens and care-giving responsibilities. We strive to uplift the family unit, and to provide the right reso

urces and opportunities to improve lives. YWCA’s community service programmes are supported by YWCA Fort Canning, our revenue-generating arm in hospitality. All net proceeds contribute towards our social initiatives such as Empowering Mums, Meals-on-Wheels, and Sustenance for Families.

We were delighted to host our first YWCA Hopemaker: Women Business Accelerator (HWBA) Networking Circle, bringing together our Hopemakers for a meaningful morning of connection, learning, and shared inspiration. 🤩

The session featured insightful panel discussions by our very own HWBA alumna, Cathy Kim of Snail Ceramics, alongside Jeannie Pang of Tracyeinny and Dawn Cureem of Clean and Real Foods. Participants also had the opportunity to connect with our new collaboration partner, Nooks Singapore, and learn about new avenues to showcase and grow their businesses. 💪

As stories were shared and ideas exchanged, participants explored new opportunities, strengthened their entrepreneurial networks, and encouraged one another along their business journeys. More than just a networking session, it was a celebration of women empowering women, building meaningful connections, fostering collaboration, and growing stronger together as a community. 🩵💙🩷

Join Us as a YWCA Volunteer for our Empowering English Programme. 🥰

Support mums in building confidence in everyday English through guided conversations using our ready-made curriculum. No lesson planning required, just your patience, encouragement, and willingness to connect.

🗓️ We're currently looking for volunteers available on Mondays, 10.00am–12.00pm.

Volunteer profile:
• Passionate about helping women build confidence through conversational English
• Comfortable guiding conversations using a provided curriculum (English teaching or phonics experience is a plus!)
• Able to commit to at least 5 out of 10 sessions
• Fluent in English (a second ASEAN language such as Malay, Mandarin, Tamil, Vietnamese, or Thai is an advantage)
• Patient, encouraging, and enjoys connecting with people from diverse backgrounds

Join Us as a YWCA CareHER. 🥰

This befriending role offers caregivers a simple but meaningful monthly connection, someone to talk to, someone who listens, and someone who shows up consistently. It’s not about giving advice or handling complex issues, but about building a steady, human connection that helps someone feel seen and supported in their everyday life.

Volunteers will be matched with participants for one light-touch monthly check-in (e.g. a phone call), with optional brief updates to the programme team if needed. Training and guidance are provided before matching, and volunteers are paired based on language and compatibility. A minimum 6-month commitment is preferred to help build familiarity and trust over time.

Volunteer profile:
• Women preferred, as the role supports female participants
• English-speaking (additional languages such as Malay, Mandarin, or Tamil are an advantage)
• Warm, patient, and empathetic in conversations
• A good listener who can offer encouragement without judgement
• Able to maintain healthy boundaries and refer complex concerns to programme staff when needed
• Reliable and able to commit to consistent monthly check-ins over time

As we celebrate mothers, we honour the quiet strength, resilience, and love of those who tirelessly hold their families together.

Today, we share Woon’s story. 🌸

As a mother to a son with special needs, Woon spent years centring her life around caregiving, love, and patience, quietly carrying both challenges and hopes for her family’s future.

Then, a simple love for crochet became something more. What began as a small hobby slowly transformed into a new beginning shaped by courage, purpose, and hope. 🥰

In commemoration of Mother's Day, we share Cathy's Story. 🌸

After losing her husband, Cathy suddenly found herself carrying the weight of raising her son with special needs alone, uncertain of what the future might bring.

Then, an unexpected moment changed the course of her life. A new beginning shaped by courage, love and hope. 🥰

Easter reminds us that even after the darkest moments, renewal is always possible. That hope can be restored. That lives can be rebuilt. And that no one has to journey alone.
