President’s Message for October 2026
Dear Fellow Rotarians and Friends,
As we step into October, I would first like to pause and remember Past District Governor Michael Yee, whose passing brought sadness to many within our Rotary family.
On behalf of E-Club 3310, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, and all fellow Rotarians who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him. PDG Michael’s contribution to Rotary will be remembered with gratitude and respect. May he rest in peace.
September was a meaningful month for our Club, not simply because of the activities we took part in, but because of the relationships, conversations, and opportunities for service that continued to develop around us.
At our September Club meeting, we had the opportunity to discuss several service initiatives, including Avoidable Blindness and possible future projects that can make a real difference in the lives of those in need. We also continued our conversations around community support through Gladiolus Place and our ongoing engagement with Spectra Secondary School.
One of the highlights of the month was the September Joint Presidents Meeting on 25 September, which E-Club 3310 had the pleasure of jointly hosting together with the Rotary Club of Queenstown.
For me, the value of these Joint Presidents Meetings goes far beyond the meeting itself. They create opportunities for presidents and clubs to exchange ideas, understand District initiatives, discover areas where we can work together, and strengthen the friendships that make Rotary such a unique organisation. I am grateful to everyone who contributed to making the evening a successful and enjoyable gathering.
Our Club also continued to support Rotary’s global commitment to eradicate polio. Members of E-Club 3310 joined fellow Rotarians at the September District End Polio Walk, demonstrating once again that even simple acts of participation contribute to a much larger Rotary mission.
I sincerely thank the members who represented our Club and continue to support this important cause.
Another encouraging development during September was the growing number of service and collaboration opportunities being discussed within our Club. From avoidable blindness initiatives to community support programmes and potential partnerships with other Rotary clubs, these conversations remind us that meaningful service often begins with a simple discussion, a connection, or an idea.
Our relationship with Spectra Secondary School is a good example.
What began through our engagement with the school and its community initiatives has continued to grow into a stronger relationship. I am therefore very pleased that Principal Tan Teck Hock has accepted our invitation to speak at our October Club meeting.
As President, one of the things I continue to appreciate most is seeing how Rotary creates connections. A meeting can lead to a partnership. A service activity can lead to a new idea. A conversation between clubs can lead to a project that none of us could have achieved alone.
As we move forward into October, I hope we will continue to build on these connections.
I encourage every member to stay engaged, share ideas, participate whenever possible, and help us identify opportunities where E-Club 3310 can contribute meaningfully.
Our strength does not come from how many activities we can organise, but from the value and lasting impact we create through the activities we choose to undertake.
