Coming together with Christine Ng of Why Ventures, to look into cooking up some magic for children (children of the Rade, Jarai and Mnong people in Dak Lak, Central Vietnam) - with the aim of transforming their life of lack and limitation into a future of exciting possibilities. Thank You Christine for stopping over back in Singapore to share your vision, mission and purpose, and also a specific plan to provide the children with entrepreneurial immersion in a cacao farm, learning life lessons together with their sponsors.

“Rotary needs dreams - not as an escape from reality, but as a force that moves people to act and to keep hope even in the most difficult times.” - Rotary International President Francisco Arezzo, speaking at the Opening of RI’s Taipei 2026 Convention on 14 June 2026

Sunday afternoon in Taipei…. At the Opening Ceremony of the Rotary International Taipei 2026 Convention, with 37,000 Rotarians in attendance, Rotarians in the first of 2 sessions were welcomed by the President of Taiwan, William Lai. Those of us in the second and afternoon session were welcomed by the very youthful Mayor of Taipei, Chiang Wan-an, the great-grandson of Chiang Kai-shek. In his welcome speech, Mayor Chiang said with pride that he’d be flying to Singapore to receive the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize, a prestigious international award often described as the “Nobel Prize of Cities” - cities that demonstrate outstanding achievements in creating livable, vibrant and sustainable urban communities.

Is there something else that’s meaningful and impactful we can do together? RCPV looks forward to welcome our guest speaker and social entrepreneur from Ho Chih Minh City, Christine Ng, whom we first met in Sapa in January 2026, in conjunction with Project Supa Sapa. Christine gave up senior digital marketing careers at big companies like L’Oreal and Nestle to start up Why Ventures - a social business enterprise which organises entrepreneurial immersion for financially-disadvantaged youths so as to give them exposure to a life beyond poverty, meeting with benefactors from afar who co-sponsor the education programme. Christine will speak to us about Building Self Reliance through Entrepreneurship Immersion. The setting for this has been a cacao farm somewhere in Vietnam. Let’s look out for a potential collaboration and see how we can be helpful to a good cause.
