The Parish of Dormition of Theotokos, Russian Orthodox Church (Singapore)

Приход в честь Успения Божией Матери был учрежден Священным Синодом Русской Православной Церкви 12 октября 2007 года (http://www.patriarchia.ru/db/text/307292.html, журнал N:99). Архипастырское окормление Успенского прихода в Республике Сингапур Священный Синод поручил епископу Уссурийскому Сергию (Чашину), викарию Владивостокской епархии, ныне - Патриаршему Экзарху Юго-Восточной Азии, Митрополиту Сингапурскому и Юго-Восточно-Азиатскому Сергию.

Официальная регистрация прихода в соответствии с законодательством Сингапура была завершена 12 декабря 2008 года, после чего началось ведение полноценной приходской деятельности.

На сегодняшний день, приход является духовной пристанью более чем для двухсот православных христиан. Действует воскресная школа для детей, проводятся занятия по церковному пению и чтению, катахезации, развивается добровольческое общество "Милосердие". Доброй традицией стало совершение ежегодных паломничеств по святым местам России, Святой земли и иных мест. Регулярно проводятся концерты и постановки, выезды на природу.

The Parish of Dormition of Theotokos was established by Holy Synod of Russian Orthodox Church on 12th of October 2007 (http://www.patriarchia.ru/db/text/307292.html, protocol No99). Holy Synod entrust Archpastoral care of Holy Dormition Parish in Republic of Singapore to bishop of Ussuriysk Sergiy (Chashin), vicar of Vladivostok eparchy, now - Patriarchal Exarch of South-East Asia, Metropolitan Sergiy of Singapore and South-East Asia. Official Parish registration according to Singapore law was received on 12th of December 2008, when full parish activities has begun. Today, parish is a spiritual Marina for more than 200 orthodox christians. There is children Sunday school functioning, church chanting and reading lessons, catechism, volunteer community "Mercy" developing. It became good tradition to have yearly pilgrimage to holy places of Russia, Holy Land and others. Regular to have concerts and plays, nature set offs. Metropolitan Sergiy celebrated the Divine Liturgy at Our Church on the Feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos

On 14 October 2026, the Feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated at our church, presided over by the rector, His Eminence Metropolitan Sergiy of Singapore and Southeast Asia, Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia. The hierarch was concelebrated by the clergy of the church.

On the eve of the feast, Metropolitan Sergiy celebrated the All-Night Vigil with Litia.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the clergy and parishioners sang the festal glorification in honour of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos.

At the end of the service, Metropolitan Sergiy congratulated those gathered on the feast and bestowed his archpastoral blessing.

The Feast of St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco

On October 12, 2026, the feast day of St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco, the Wonderworker, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated at our church.

At the conclusion of the service, a glorification in honor of the saint was held, and a prayer was offered to him.

We also warmly congratulated John (John Tak Sing) on his name day, wishing him good health, God’s help in all his good endeavors, inner peace, joy, and the saint’s blessing throughout his life and in his responsible ministry.

Many blessed years to John, the celebrant of the day!

On the 19 th Sunday after Pentecost Metropolitan Sergiy celebrated the Divine Liturgy at our Church

On October 11, 2026, the 19th Sunday after Pentecost, the Divine Liturgy at our church was celebrated by its rector, the Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia, Metropolitan Sergiy of Singapore and Southeast Asia. The hierarch was concelebrated by the clergy of the church.

On the previous evening, His Eminence prayed at the All-Night Vigil.

At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Metropolitan Sergiy delivered a sermon to the parishioners.

Following the communal meal, the church’s clergyman, Priest Philip Calington, led an educational talk on the liturgical vestments worn by clergy, their spiritual meaning, and their symbolism in the Orthodox tradition.

On the same day, Sunday school classes for children were also held at the parish.

«There is no fear in LOVE; but perfect love casteth out fear…He that feareth is not made perfect in love..» (1 John 4:18).

Today, the church is celebrating the repose of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian.

Divine Liturgy of the feast was served in our church today. It is not accidental that apostle John is referred to both as THEOLOGIAN and the apostle of LOVE. This is because a true theologian is only one in whom love for the Lord and one’s neighbour truly go together, for only in that case one is able to know God (Who is Love), - reminded us Fr. Phillip in his sermon.

He also emphasized that the holy apostle John was Christ’s most beloved disciple, but we should not forget that we, too, are all children of God, and He loves us as much because we are His children. And on those days when it seems that you are alone amid trials, let us remember God’s love for us!

May the Lord help us in this by the prayers of the holy apostle and evangelist John the Theologian!🙏🏻

On October 8, 2026, the feast day commemorating the repose of St Sergiy of Radonezh, Abbot and Wonderworker of All Russia, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated at our church. The service was presided over by the Rector of the church, His Eminence Metropolitan Sergiy of Singapore and Southeast Asia, Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia. The hierarch was concelebrated by the clergy of the church.

On the eve of the feast, His Eminence prayed at the All-Night Vigil.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Sergiy delivered a homily to the faithful.

Following the service, the clergy and parishioners congratulated their Archpastor on his name day. The celebration continued with a communal meal.

On the 18th Sunday after Pentecost, Metropolitan Sergius Celebrated the Divine Liturgy at Our Church

On October 4, 2026, the 18th Sunday after Pentecost, His Eminence Metropolitan Sergiy of Singapore and Southeast Asia, Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia and rector of our church, presided at the celebration of the Divine Liturgy.

The Metropolitan was concelebrated by the clergy of the church.

On the previous evening, Metropolitan Sergiy celebrated the All-Night Vigil.

During the Divine Liturgy, six newly baptized faithful, who had received the Sacrament of Holy Baptism the previous day, partook in the Holy Mysteries for the first time, entering fully into the Eucharistic life of the Church by approaching the Holy Chalice.

Following the dismissal, the clergy and parishioners venerated the Honorable and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord.

At the conclusion of the service, Metropolitan Sergiy addressed the faithful with a pastoral homily.
