Last week, TI and the Asia Crisis Response Alliance conducted the inaugural Disaster Response Training at St. Paul Methodist School in Timor-Leste. Over 3 days, staff and student leaders were trained and planned their response to various disaster scenarios. Some scenario sessions made the training feel more like drama class (scroll to the last slide)!

✨ Behind every successful child is a teacher who chose to keep learning.
Over the last two days at TeachUP, our teachers laughed together, solved problems together, shared ideas together, and challenged one another to think differently.

What may have looked like games, discussions, and group activities was actually something much deeper:
A community of educators united by a common purpose and calling—to give every child the very best learning experience possible.

We are grateful for the teachers who remained teachable, passionate, and committed to growth.
Because education changes lives. And teachers make education possible. ❤️

Over the past two days, the community service team packed care packs, which contained daily household essentials. We distributed them to support the households in Berastagi. It was a meaningful and insightful experience, and we were glad to be able to bless the community here!

The holidays are here, and we’re in… to serve! 💛📚

Today, a team of volunteers will be embarking on a journey to Berastagi, Indonesia for a 2-day TeachUP programme. We’re excited for the opportunity to connect, partner, and share with local teachers through meaningful learning experiences and fellowship.

At the same time, another team of volunteers will also be embarking on a community service journey, reaching out and making an impact in different ways. ✨

We look forward to sharing more updates, reflections, and memorable moments from both teams over the next few days. Stay tuned! 🇮🇩

On our final day in the village in Thanh Hoa, we celebrated Christmas with the local community 🎄

We set up a photobooth, ran fun game stations (chapteh, five stones, egg crate toss, reindeer rings and memory ball), guided children to draw a Christmas card at the arts & crafts booth, and came together for mass games and singing. About 60 children and adults joined in the festivities, filling the village with laughter and cheer.

That evening, the team headed back to Hanoi, where we ran a similar programme the next morning for around 25 children.

It was truly a blessed time—sharing joy, laughter, and the spirit of Christmas with the Vietnamese, and discovering that joy needs no common language to be deeply felt. ❤️

It’s not just about laying bricks. It’s about building on each other’s work to finish what we set out to do.

After three days of shovelling, mixing cement, and laying bricks, we finally got it done! The drainage will ensure rainwater runs off the paved road and help improve the daily lives of people in the village. 🤝🏽

LoveVietnam Team 3 spent the first two days getting logistics sorted and travelling to Thanh Hóa city centre. Today, we finally started on the road work — digging the trench so the roads won’t flood when the rains come. Hard work, but we are grateful to lend a small pair of hands. 😊👐🏽

Yesterday, we wrapped up our 2 days of TeachUP programme! It was a fruitful time as we had conversations with the Berastagi teachers on ideas and strategies for student engagement and learner centered teaching! Plus it was really fun as we danced, jumped, sang, connected with one another!

These teachers, they are the stars; making a difference to mould the young hearts, character and minds of the students and in Berastagi! Go forth! ✨🔥

We kicked off Day 1 of the TeachUP programme by diving into the ❤️ of a teacher through many fun activities and discussions!

Hearing firsthand the hopes, dreams, and unwavering beliefs that teachers in Berastagi hold for their students and the next generation is a powerful reminder of the impact educators make every single day! To teach is a calling, a commitment, and a quiet strength that shapes the future.

After the ❤️, to the 🧠 & 🖐s!
