As long-time partners of DPH, the Moulmein-Cairnhill (Newton Residents' Network) team makes it an annual tradition to drop by and connect with our patients and brighten their day. They distributed thoughtful care packs to our patients across the wards and their lively presence brought plenty of cheer to our Day Care clients.

We are thrilled to share that at the recent MSF's Families for Life (FFL) Build for Families Hackathon Pitch Day, Dover Park Hospice was selected as one of the 5 teams awarded project funding out of 11 pitching teams! To top it off, we also took home the "Most Promising Impact Award", voted live by the audience!

Our pitch centered on "Chope Your Wishes"—an initiative aimed at helping families navigate crucial, sensitive, and meaningful conversations about end-of-life planning, values, and legacy preservation.

Graced by Guest-of-Honour Mr Goh Pei Ming, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Social and Family Development, FFL Build for Families is a co-creation initiative designed to encourage ground-up participation to address family related challenges in the following areas:

1. Encouraging marriage and parenthood
2. Strengthening early years of marriage
3. Strengthening intergenerational relationships

This initiative empowers and funds ground-up projects with the potential to scale for lasting, widespread community impact.

A massive thank you to the Families for Life Council, the panel of judges, and everyone in the audience who voted for us at the event. We can’t wait to build on what we have started together and showcase "Chope Your Wishes" this weekend (2 - 4 October) at the Live Well. Leave Well. Festival 2026 at Suntec City Atrium, Tower 1 & 2.

Last Saturday, our Jade Group volunteers celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with patients and caregivers, sharing sweet mooncake treats and goodie bags, and brightening the wards with colourful lanterns!.

The festivities continued into the evening with a calligraphy booth, a tea appreciation booth and a live musical performance by our volunteers from Blue Sapphire Group.

A big thank you to our Jade Group and Blue Sapphire Group volunteers for bringing festive joy to our patients and caregivers! 💛

[𝗗𝗣𝗛 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗸 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲]

What comes to mind when you hear the word "hospice"? For many young people, hospice care can feel unfamiliar, and conversations about serious illness, caregiving, and end-of-life care are often avoided.

Through our partnership with Temasek Polytechnic LEAD Programme, Dover Park Hospice had the opportunity to engage more than 140 tertiary students, challenge common misconceptions about hospice and deepen their understanding of palliative care. Through candid fireside chats and interactive “Human Library” sessions, Dr Martin Lee (Home Care Doctor), Mr Nathan Khor (Medical Social Work Assistant), Ms Pearlynn Pang (Medical Social Worker) and Ms Katherine Lim (Nurse Clinician) shared their personal and professional experiences, helping students gain a deeper appreciation of the compassion, purpose and impact of hospice and palliative care.

Building on these insights, students then took part in a hackathon where they transformed their learning into social media reels aimed at raising awareness of hospice and palliative care among their peers. Their fresh perspectives may be featured as part of our ongoing efforts, to make this often misunderstood topic more relatable to young people.

[𝗗𝗣𝗛 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗪𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗿🌹]

Grief may take different forms, but remembering a loved one is a journey no one has to walk alone.

Recently, Dover Park Hospice (DPH) brought together caregivers and family members for our annual Rose for Remembrance, to collectively remember and honour 867 patients who have passed on in the past year (April 2025 – March 2026).

Surrounded by DPH Council members, staff and volunteers who had journeyed with them, families engaged in meaningful reflection, shared personal stories, a gentle guided imagery session and a hands-on experiential activity dedicated to keep the memories of their loved ones alive.

At DPH, our care does not end when a patient passes on. We remain committed to walking alongside their families through bereavement, creating safe spaces for remembrance, connection and healing.
