Our 2026 speaker series as part of the Asia-Pacific Drama Education Alliance (APDEA) continues this week, bringing two educators from Singapore and Australia together!

In this online webinar "From Instinct to Intention: Developing Metacognitive Drama Students", Kang Chee Hui (SG), Head of Aesthetics and Drama Educator at St. Anthony’s Canossian Secondary School asks "If spontaneity is at the heart of drama, what happens when we ask students to stop, think, and become conscious of their choices? Do we risk losing the instinct that makes drama feel alive?" Drawing on recent classroom practice, her sharing will explore an ongoing inquiry into how educators can make students’ thinking more visible within the drama-making process.

She will be joined by Jo Raphael (AU), Associate Professor in Arts Education (Drama) at Deakin University, who will be responding to the sharing.

We are proud to foster and deepen this unique exchange across the Asia-Pacific region, and we invite you to join us. Register and tune in this coming Monday!

🤔 What happens when competition is taken out of the equation?

For Ghazali Muzakir (Ghaz), S*F’s new non-competitive Drama Category for Primary School Students offers an opportunity to rethink what success can look like in arts education. That said, he recognises that changing the format doesn’t necessarily change how children experience achievement, and that’s why as drama educators we need to continue to lead with intention.
