Chhimed Rigdzin Society The official page of the Chhimed Rigdzin Society. In 1961 he formed the Chhimed Rigdzin Society together with other great lamas. For the Nyingmapa H.H.

In order to prevent the decline of Buddhist teachings in general and especially those of his own tradition, Chhimed Rigdzin Rinpoche wanted to build his own monastery, a place where retreats and studies could be undertaken. The patrons of the Society were the then heads of the four main schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Dudjom Rinpoche, for the Sakyapa H.H. Drolma Photrang, for the Kagyupa H.H. Karmapa and for the Gelugpa H.H. Gaden Tri Rinpoche Yong Dzin Ling. The vice presidents included Ven. Trulshik Rinpoche and Ven. Taklung Tsetrul.

After celebrating and remembering the first turn of the wheel of Dharma by Lord Shakyamuni Buddha at the deer park in Sarnath (event known as Choekhor Duchen), all residents of Khordong Byangter Gompa performed tsethar of 500kg of live fishes under a heavy rain. This tsethar was specially dedicated to Mr Yong from Singapore whom has greatly helped in the development of the gompa activities through his sincere care and his great and profound knowledge of Feng Shui. Yesterday, with the support of the Ranidanga SSB Batallion staff we have planted hundreds of trees all around the gompa land. Touched by our Yoga teaching initiative started few weeks ago, they have also committed to support a yoga teacher whom would come twice a week to teach our young monks. We are very touched snd pleased with such unconditional and continuous support from the Ranidanga SSB Camp. Sarwa Mangalam🙏

19th June 2026 corresponded to the 5th Day of the 5th Lunar month in the WATER HORSE year(2129 in the Tibetan Cycle) which is observed as the 24th year of our Rinpochi's Maha Pari Parinirvana.
The day started with the Yoga session early in the morning.
Later we offered our prayers and Khadags at the feet of Rinpochi's statue at the Great Bodhisattva ( Jangchub chorten) Stupa
Inside and outside of the stupa was beautifully decorated by our younger monks led by their teacher Ledala.
We offered many lamps at Great Marme Monlam house.
Later, we took brief time with our small monks to narrate the last wishes of our Rinpochi about the gompa after his Pari Nirvana.
All day long the Stupa and Gompa every where echoed with OM SOTI....

In celebration of the Saga Dawa month and in memory of the great connection between Dodrupchen Rinpoche and Chhimed Rigdzin Rinpoche, Tulku Ugen and Shashilah went to Gangtok, Deorali gompa to pay their last respect to Dodruchen Rinpoche’s kudung before it is enshrined in a dedicated stupa there and then travelled to Bodhgaya to offer thousands of lamps dedicated to the activities of these two great beings and teachers of the Buddha Dharma, as well as to the well being of all familly and sangha members in these trying times. On the next Full Moon we will be having our next event to celebrate the auspicious day of Saga Dawa. In the early morning of the 31st May 2026 we will be releasing live fishes at the nearby dam and perform the Tsethar ritual for the release of those particular fishes and making aspirations for all sentient beings to find peace and liberation. Vesak day celebration was a great success here at gompa. We had many visitors and we have served more than 3500 people with Bengali Khichuri, mixed vegetables, mango chutney and papadom.
The best part of the evening was , we introduced selling of lotus flower for Rs.10/ per lotus. Many many people appreciated this gesture and happily bought them for offering at Gompa and at 8 Stupas.
Regret that we were all so engaged at receiving and serving all visitors that we did not capture those moments in pictures.
At the end of very intense activities, the planning was rewarded to see so many people gathering around gompa and enjoyed seating on the new benches.. Bhavatu Savva Mangalam.
