Chhimed Rigdzin Society The official page of the Chhimed Rigdzin Society. In 1961 he formed the Chhimed Rigdzin Society together with other great lamas. For the Nyingmapa H.H.

In order to prevent the decline of Buddhist teachings in general and especially those of his own tradition, Chhimed Rigdzin Rinpoche wanted to build his own monastery, a place where retreats and studies could be undertaken. The patrons of the Society were the then heads of the four main schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Dudjom Rinpoche, for the Sakyapa H.H. Drolma Photrang, for the Kagyupa H.H. Karmap

a and for the Gelugpa H.H. Gaden Tri Rinpoche Yong Dzin Ling. The vice presidents included Ven. Trulshik Rinpoche and Ven. Taklung Tsetrul.

In celebration of the Saga Dawa month and in memory of the great connection between Dodrupchen Rinpoche and Chhimed Rigdzin Rinpoche, Tulku Ugen and Shashilah went to Gangtok, Deorali gompa to pay their last respect to Dodruchen Rinpoche’s kudung before it is enshrined in a dedicated stupa there and then travelled to Bodhgaya to offer thousands of lamps dedicated to the activities of these two great beings and teachers of the Buddha Dharma, as well as to the well being of all familly and sangha members in these trying times. On the next Full Moon we will be having our next event to celebrate the auspicious day of Saga Dawa. In the early morning of the 31st May 2026 we will be releasing live fishes at the nearby dam and perform the Tsethar ritual for the release of those particular fishes and making aspirations for all sentient beings to find peace and liberation. Vesak day celebration was a great success here at gompa. We had many visitors and we have served more than 3500 people with Bengali Khichuri, mixed vegetables, mango chutney and papadom.
The best part of the evening was , we introduced selling of lotus flower for Rs.10/ per lotus. Many many people appreciated this gesture and happily bought them for offering at Gompa and at 8 Stupas.
Regret that we were all so engaged at receiving and serving all visitors that we did not capture those moments in pictures.
At the end of very intense activities, the planning was rewarded to see so many people gathering around gompa and enjoyed seating on the new benches.. Bhavatu Savva Mangalam.

The making of this guard wall around the gompa was in the plans for the past 20 years. It is to retain the earth below the gompa. The gompa being slightly elevated and the earth/sand beneath has a tendency to go creating gaps underneath that could put the whole structure at risk. The wall also allows to retain the earth and create a beautiful garden all around the gompa. Sarwa Mangalam🙏
