Flashback Memory #1: On 18-19th March, a total of 25 participants joined the Venture Foundation Course in Sarimbun Campsite.

Comprised of activities designed to introduce and transition the Scouts into Venturing, the course saw the new Ventures engaged in litter-picking, in hiking around familiar and yet, not so familiar places, and unfamiliar faces become familiar ones at the end of the course.

Of course, when learning is fun-filled, time passes really quickly. We shall see these ventures real soon in future events.

Last Saturday on 13 May, our Area Scouts, Ventures and Rovers joined hands with SPCA to assist with their newest initiative, a pet health screening service at Marsiling.

Our scouts and the SPCA have contributed to the cause of assisting the residents with timely pet healthcare services to cater and care for the well-being of the furry ones!

On 6 May 2023, at Chongfu School, the North Area concluded its first cooking competition for the 120 or so cubs. Each group cooked up a storm with limited resources, and exceeded the expectations of the judges.

From Sarawak Laksa to Sausage Fried Rice, with the level of culinary excellence exhibited, it is hard to believe these are just cubs. As the saying goes, if we can cook, so can you! Come join us next time in our bi-annual culinary challenge!

On 17 Mar 2023, about 60 scouts joined the North Area Scout Leadership Course.
This marks the first run of the NA SLC of 2023, held at Zhonghua Secondary, where scouts learned the tenets of leadership and hence acquire the knowledge of what leadership entails, a critical soft skill that will carry them into many years ahead even beyond the domains of Scouting.
The comradeship and tenacity displayed among the scouts is indeed touching and wondrous to behold.

On 25 February, units from the North Area gathered together in different places with one goal in mind - to commemorate Founder's Day 2023.

Be it Cubs, Scouts, Ventures, Rovers or Leaders, shoulder to shoulder, heel to heel, they took to the outdoors for a hike through the familiar and not-too-familiar neighbourhoods through forests in and around the region, and stepped into the known and unknown, all in the Spirit of Scouting.

As BP quips, “We are not a club or a Sunday school class, but a school of the woods.”

Of course, while hiking, our scouts also picked up pieces of garbage, cleaning the neighbourhood as they hiked, in conjunction with the Diamond Jubilee Challenge (DJC) 2023 - 'Be Aware'.

Our scouts are now more acutely aware of their presence in the immediate environment and the impact they create from the actions they choose to undertake.

It is indeed an amazing experience to behold. Happy Founder's Day, everyone! See you again next year!
