What does effective board leadership look like in today’s rapidly changing landscape?

Last week, BoardAgender came together with PrimeTime Business and Professional Women’s Association to bring together aspiring and current directors for an insightful discussion on modern board dynamics, governance, and leadership.

We were honoured to hear from keynote speaker Turid Solvang, whose global expertise in corporate governance and board diversity sparked valuable conversations on how boards are evolving, the qualities organisations seek in directors, and the growing responsibilities of board leaders in areas such as strategy, risk, ESG, and succession planning.

A heartfelt thank you to our speakers, panellists, and participants for contributing to an engaging exchange of perspectives and experiences. Together, we continue to strengthen the pipeline of women leaders ready to contribute meaningfully in the boardroom and beyond.

By 2030, progress means recognising that caregiving is a shared responsibility, not one carried disproportionately by women.

Chee Jia, Secretary of PrimeTime Business and Professional Women’s Association (), envisions a future where parental leave is truly gender-neutral, giving families the flexibility to decide how caregiving responsibilities are shared based on their needs, not societal expectations.

Her message to the public is simple but powerful: change happens when everyone plays a part. While gender inequality may be systemic, every action, conversation, and decision contributes to shaping a more equitable society.

🎨 What will Singapore look like in 2085?

Through the eyes of this year’s young artists, it is a future shaped by courage, compassion, innovation, and the enduring legacy of remarkable women who came before us.

At the AWESOME Art Competition 2025 Prize Giving Ceremony, we celebrated the imagination, creativity, and thoughtful reflections of our finalists, who were challenged to envision Singapore 60 years into the future through the eyes of women from the Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame.

From bold visions of progress to heartfelt expressions of resilience, the artworks reminded us that the stories of today’s trailblazers continue to inspire tomorrow’s changemakers.

Congratulations to all our finalists and winners. Your creativity brought these remarkable women’s legacies to life and offered a glimpse into the values, hopes, and dreams that will shape Singapore’s future. ✨

A special thank you to our supporters who made this year’s competition possible:

A few weeks ago, we sat down with government officials from across the world. The conversation was less about policy papers and more about what the work of gender equality actually looks like in everyday life.

They were participants of Transcending Gender Norms in Leadership, a programme under the Singapore Cooperation Programme, organised by the Civil Service College and administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

We shared how government, civil society, and communities have worked together here, from advocacy and leadership development to services that support women and families directly.

Different countries. Different realities. But the hope for a more equal and inclusive future remains deeply shared.
