Good news! Look forward to the enhancement in our ‘hood! 😊

[New Sheltered Linkway in Cantonment Towers]

Our residents at Cantonment Towers would have noticed a new covered linkway being constructed around the neighbourhood. This is part of the plans to enhance accessibility to the upcoming Cantonment MRT Station.

Over the past few months, I have been working closely with the Residents' Network, Land Transport Authority, and the Town Council - to look at the sheltered connectivity in the area as a whole, and not just the immediate connectivity to the MRT Station. Many residents have also shared your feedback with me.

I am happy to share with our residents that we are looking into a few further enhancements:

- Covered linkway between Cantonment Primary School and Block 12 Cantonment Towers
- Covered linkway connecting Block 19 Cantonment Towers directly to Cantonment MRT Station
- Covered linkway connecting Block 8 Cantonment Towers and the linkway to Cantonment MRT Station

The agencies are carrying out the planning for these additional enhancements, and I seek the patience of our residents as we implement them in phases. The indicative locations of these connections are shown in the image - subject to further changes upon the detailed plans.

When these enhancements are completed, together with the lift for the Pedestrian Overhead Bridge across Cantonment Road (which I had announced earlier), all our residents in Cantonment Towers, Everton Park, and Pinnacle Duxton, will have sheltered connection to Cantonment MRT.

These works are part of our efforts to continually enhance accessibility within our neighbourhoods and to our public transport nodes. I am taking the same comprehensive approach for all our other neighbourhoods in Tanjong Pagar-Tiong Bahru, and will share the plans when ready!
