Did you know it takes two whole years for a single pineapple to grow? 🍍
At yesterday’s dinner, we had the pleasure of hearing from a very patient man, Erick Villalobos! Erick shared the inspiring journey of how his family’s pineapple plantation in Costa Rica transformed into a greener, more sustainable business. He also gave us a eye-opening reality check on why his fresh pineapples aren't sold here — flying a single pineapple to Singapore generates nearly 15kg of CO₂! Instead, he’s bringing eco-friendly dried pineapples to our shores under his brand Birü CR.

We were also honoured to learn more about the crucial work being done at the Family Service Centre (Clementi / West Coast) from Past President & Management Committee Chairman Jeyan Nadarajah and Executive Director Amran Jamil. From food distribution to funding, we’re proud to partner with them to support Singaporeans who might otherwise fall through the gaps. ❤️
Of course, no fellowship is complete without celebrating our incredible community:
🌟 Major Donors: A huge salute to Lydia Goh (US104,000 to date!) and Dato Elaine Teh who just established a US25,000 endowment fund!
💎 3-Ruby Benefactor Pins: Congratulations to our four members Adelina Koh Dominic Chia Rosemary Goh Ally AP recognized for their total contributions reaching US$9,000–$9,999!

As we kick off a new Rotary year, we’re keeping this district’s theme close to heart: Create Lasting Impact. We didn’t join Rotary to be remembered — we joined to make a difference that is.
Here’s to another year of Service Above Self! 🥂✨

🚲💙 A Rotary Moment That Truly Came Full Circle 💙🚲

Between 2013 and 2016, the Rotary Club of Sentosa worked with the Rotary Club of Pursat on a simple but meaningful project—donating bicycles to help village children travel to school more easily.

Back in 2013, 245 bicycles were sponsored by Rotary Club of Sentosa and distributed through Rotary Club of Pursat. At the time, they were just bicycles. Or so we thought.

Fast forward to 15 June 2026. Our outgoing President, Ryan Ng Chze Siong was attending the Rotary International Convention in Taiwan and stopped by the Rotary Club of Pursat booth to say hello and check out their sustainability projects.

Then came an incredible surprise.

One of the ladies at the booth shared that she was a beneficiary of our 2013 bicycle project. Her name is Sichiv—and today, she is President Elect of the Rotary Club of Pursat.

From a young girl helped by a bicycle… to a working professional… to a Rotary leader giving back to her community. 💫

Moments like this remind us that when we invest in people—especially young people—the impact can last far longer than we ever imagine.

This is Rotary.
This is service above self.
And this is why every small act matters. ❤️

What an absolutely packed, inspiring, and milestone-heavy evening! ✨
Last Thursday (28 May), we had the absolute pleasure of hosting The Urbanist, Ho Yong Min, at our dinner meeting. If you ever thought Singapore was predictable, Yong completely shattered that myth! His incredible enthusiasm and drive showed us a side of our city we rarely see. From uncovering the deep roots of Orchard Road to quizzing us on the mysterious origins of Kada (bet most of you have no idea where he truly sparked our curiosity. It really made us ponder: what will disappear from our cityscape in the next 20 years? 🏙️🍂
But the inspiration didn’t stop with history. The night was also a celebration of generosity, leadership, and heart within our Rotary family.
Please give the biggest round of applause to our Paul Harris Foundation (PHF) awardees! 🏆 Every single one of you embodies :
• Aemy Wong (Our amazing Treasurer)
• William Cai (Past President) (also Major Donor level 1)
• Jenny Huang (Incoming Local Projects Chair) (also Major Donor level 1)
• Ryan Ng (Our current President) (also Major Donor level 1)
• Linda Wong (Past President) (also Major Donor level 1)
• Tan Zijing (President Elect)
• Rosemary Goh (Our fantastic "baby" Rotarian!)
And a special, deeply grateful shoutout to our Chartering President, Michael Quek, who continues to pave the way and inspire us all as a Major Donor Level 3! 🌟
We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Past President Robin Tan for his outstanding district leadership, and to all the lovely guests from our fellow clubs who joined us to make the night so vibrant.
The energy in the room was a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do. Here’s to many more nights of deep learning, great fellowships, and lasting impact! 🥂✨

What does it mean to build a legacy?
Last night at the D3310 Unite for Good TRF Dinner, the energy in the room was electric. With our Guest-of-Honour, Rotary Foundation Chair Holger Knaack walked in with a bold mission: bridge the gap from US1.6M to reach our ultimate goal of **US2 Million**.
Then, Dr. Shahul Hameed our district governor shared a powerful reminder that reframed everything for us: "We join Rotary not to be remembered, but to make a difference that is worth remembering."

🔄 The Power of Perpetuity
He broke down what a Named Endowment of US$25,000 actually does. It’s not just a one-time check; it generates roughly US$1,000 every single year, forever.
Year after year, that sustained funding transforms lives:
• 👶 One child who gets to live.
• 👁️ Two children who get to see.
• 🦿 Five people who get to walk again.
That is not a donation. That is a legacy.❤️
🚀 Overcoming and Overachieving!
Hearing that, the Rotary Club of Sentosa family and our fellow Rotarians didn't just step up—we leaped!
• 🌟 Four of our incredible members achieved Major Donor status.
• 🤝 Another group of us pledged US$38,000.
• 💼 Dato Elaine stepped up generously with her endowment fund US$25,000.
• 🌍 Other clubs caught the spark and started chipping in rapidly.
Within just two hours, we shattered our target, soaring past $2M to hit $2,583,000!
But the universe wasn't done surprising us. In an incredible finale, Past Rotary International Director Chew Ghim Bok stepped up to push the momentum even further.
🎉 The Grand Total: US$2,700,000 raised, the highest record in Rotary to date for Rotary year 2025 -2026.
It is absolutely breathtaking to see what passionate people can achieve when we lock arms and refuse to settle. Thank you to everyone who contributed, cheered, and believed in the vision.
We are so proud of our Sentosa family. Let's keep making history! 💙

We had a meaningful two days of learning and fellowship at the Club Leaders Learning Session for District 3310 in Johor Bahru. It was encouraging to see the strong turnout from our club, the largest we have had for this annual event.

✨🎉🥳Congratulations to our incoming President, Zi Jing, who is now well-prepared to take on his leadership role in the new Rotary year. 💫💕The time together was truly enriching—rekindling old friendships across rotary clubs, building new connections, and strengthening the bond among our own club members.🥳🎊🍻🥰😍
