What does it mean to build a legacy?
Last night at the D3310 Unite for Good TRF Dinner, the energy in the room was electric. With our Guest-of-Honour, Rotary Foundation Chair Holger Knaack walked in with a bold mission: bridge the gap from US1.6M to reach our ultimate goal of **US2 Million**.
Then, Dr. Shahul Hameed our district governor shared a powerful reminder that reframed everything for us: "We join Rotary not to be remembered, but to make a difference that is worth remembering."
🔄 The Power of Perpetuity
He broke down what a Named Endowment of US$25,000 actually does. It’s not just a one-time check; it generates roughly US$1,000 every single year, forever.
Year after year, that sustained funding transforms lives:
• 👶 One child who gets to live.
• 👁️ Two children who get to see.
• 🦿 Five people who get to walk again.
That is not a donation. That is a legacy.❤️
🚀 Overcoming and Overachieving!
Hearing that, the Rotary Club of Sentosa family and our fellow Rotarians didn't just step up—we leaped!
• 🌟 Four of our incredible members achieved Major Donor status.
• 🤝 Another group of us pledged US$38,000.
• 💼 Dato Elaine stepped up generously with her endowment fund US$25,000.
• 🌍 Other clubs caught the spark and started chipping in rapidly.
Within just two hours, we shattered our target, soaring past $2M to hit $2,583,000!
But the universe wasn't done surprising us. In an incredible finale, Past Rotary International Director Chew Ghim Bok stepped up to push the momentum even further.
🎉 The Grand Total: US$2,700,000 raised, the highest record in Rotary to date for Rotary year 2025 -2026.
It is absolutely breathtaking to see what passionate people can achieve when we lock arms and refuse to settle. Thank you to everyone who contributed, cheered, and believed in the vision.
We are so proud of our Sentosa family. Let's keep making history! 💙
