Established in 1956, SGS endeavours to serve the interests of its members and the Gujarati community in Singapore while keeping Gujarati culture and traditions alive. Aims and Objectives:
a) To promote activities that would be conducive to cultural, moral, social, educational, intellectual, professional and artistic interests of Members and their families. b) To curate, cater, conduct and fund any
such activities and/or events that are in the interest of its members, including but not limited to philanthropic, charitable, educational, humanitarian and vocational work. d) To curate programmes and provide resources for the promotion and preservation of the Gujarati language, culture, heritage and tradition through observation, celebration and practice of festivals, customs, norms, rituals, art, music, cuisine, fashion, and all other aspects that form an integral part of the Gujarati culture and life-style. e) To share with members journals, periodicals, articles, bulletins, blogs or any other information that may be deemed to be of interest to Members. Such material may be shared through any appropriate medium. f) To purchase, lease or otherwise acquire land and/or buildings or to erect and/or develop buildings on landed and/or non-landed property, acquired for the purposes of the Society's activities and/or to invest the Society's assets. Such properties to vest in Trust(s) or other appropriate legal entity(ies) in accordance with the Constitution of the Society and as determined by the Committee. g) To promote any other cognate activities for the Gujarati community in Singapore to be consistent with the aims and objectives of the Society
h) To collect and accept funds or monies required for the purposes of carrying out the aims and objectives of the Society, by way of subscriptions, donations, sponsorships, gifts, benefits, endowments, grants and/or any other form of contributions made whether by individuals, institutions, corporations or any others. i) To acknowledge, observe and/or celebrate Hindu and/or Jain practices.
