Joseph Church (Bukit Timah) committed to take small but practical actions to slow down the effects of climate change to do our part to preserve our common home, Earth. In this letter, he has highlighted the unprecedented mistreatment of our common home and calls for all people of the world to take unified action in order to preserve and restore our common home to its original beauty and wonder. In
response to his call, we have formed the SJC-BT Laudato Si’ community to do our part to initiate actions to preserve our common home, which is God’s gift to us, and where the fruits of the Earth belong to all of God’s creation. Our mission:
To grow a vibrant community that listens to the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor, and takes action towards the caring of our common home for the wellbeing of all, including for our future generations. To spread awareness of Laudato Si’ and our mission, particularly in the light of how we have taken more than our fair share of Earth’s resources that has resulted in climate change and greater suffering of the poor;
2. To engage our community with regular activities and projects with the aim of achieving eco-conversion in our community. Some examples include educational/awareness talks, roadshows and parish projects that can help to create change for a sustainable future;
3. To discover God in the beauty of creation and to care for God’s creation, through developing ecological catechesis to our younger generation, and other creation based liturgical celebrations. If you are interested to join the community, please contact us at:
