One Heart, One Mission. ❤️⚓️

Unity, purpose and renewed vision marked this year’s Annual Officers’ Retreat.

In fellowship, our bonds as a team grew stronger. Powerful keynote sessions challenged us to grow and in a meaningful time of dedication, we committed the year ahead to serve the Boys under our charge.

With 110 Officers from 50 BB Companies, we were recharged, aligned, and ready to serve the next generation together. ⚓✨

Officers also took part in hands-on workshops like keychain making, button badge making, clay magnet crafting, coaster resin art, tea appreciation, among other fun activities —creative ideas that can also be brought back to engage our Boys meaningfully.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 A Legacy That Began in 1883 ⚓

On October 4th, 1883, in the heart of Glasgow, Scotland, Sir William Alexander Smith founded what would become the world’s first uniformed youth organisation - The Boys’ Brigade.

From humble beginnings in a church mission hall, a vision was born: to nurture young lives through discipline, faith and service. What started with just a few boys has grown into a global movement touching millions of lives across generations.

143 years later, that same spirit of adventure, character-building and leadership continues to thrive! 💪

18 Officers representing 13 Companies came together for the first session of the Basic Officers Training Course (BOTC) 02/26!

The focus for the day was Intentional Mentoring — and it wasn’t just about learning what mentoring looks like, but asking a more important question: Why do we mentor?

Mentoring isn’t simply about clocking time with each Boy or meeting a set of KPIs. It’s about seeing the Boy in front of us, understanding his strengths and potential, and intentionally walking alongside him.

The goal isn’t to take away their boyhood, but to help Boys grow into mature young men who reflect resilience, leadership and maturity, grounded in the values of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline and Self-Respect.

And who knows? Along the way, they may be inspired to turn around and do the same for the younger Boys coming after them. 👊

Our Officer Cadets also got to experience mentoring from the other side — through icebreakers, role plays and plenty of laughter as they took on the roles of Mentor and Mentee. 😂

Because MENTORING isn’t just something we do in BB. It is part of who we are — establishing, equipping and empowering our Boys for every good endeavour.

12 Officers representing 8 Companies came together for the final session of the Advanced Officers Training Course (AOTC) — and what a way to finish the journey!

The morning began with Succession Planning, looking at an important question for every Company: Who comes next?

Captains and Officers play an important role in identifying and equipping those who can carry the mantle forward — leaders who understand the Company’s culture, are willing to serve, and can bring the Company into its next chapter. At the same time, good leadership means knowing when to make space for the next generation to step up. 👊

Over lunch, our Officers also had the opportunity to meet and network with some of our Brigade Executives, hearing from one another and building connections beyond their own Companies.

And then came the finale! 🎬

Our three groups presented their Action Learning Projects, showcasing creative solutions that could potentially be applied across the Brigade — from engaging our Boys and Officers, to even bringing our Alumni into the picture.

From learning, discussing and challenging ideas to putting them into action, it was a great way to close out AOTC!

Well done, Officers! The learning may be over, but the real work begins back in your Companies. 💙

Today, 30 Officers from 17 Companies, took their first steps into their Officer journey at OCO 02/26!

We started with the essentials — from getting the Officer’s uniform right 👔 to understanding the conduct expected of a BB Officer.

But being an Officer is more than looking the part. We took a look at BB’s history and explored the bigger question: Why do we serve? Why do we do what we do? 💙

Through case scenarios and discussions, our Officers reflected on the BB’s Object, Vision and Mission, and what these mean when put into practice in their respective Companies.

In the afternoon, we took learning outdoors with a BB Heritage Trail, discovering stories from BB’s history in Singapore and reflecting on what it means to serve and lead today. 🧭
