What happens when the roles reverse and more of us become caregivers to our parents?

Singapore is now a super-aged society. With more families expected to face the realities of ageing and caregiving in the years ahead, early planning and timely support can make a significant difference for both caregivers and their loved ones.

Caregivers from Enabling Services Hub @ Jurong came together for a meaningful morning of self-care and connection. Over breakfast, they met fellow caregivers, shared their experiences and exchanged words of encouragement and advice. We were also grateful to have Mr Shawn Huang Wei Zhong 黄伟中, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Finance & Ministry of Manpower, join us in showing support for our caregivers.

During a refreshing self-care session led by TOUCH Caregivers Support, the caregivers learnt about the importance of prioritising their well-being, practised simple breathing techniques and experienced the calming effects of essential oils.

The session ended on a soothing note, with each caregiver bringing home an aromatherapy roll-on as a gentle reminder to pause, recharge and make time for themselves.

Last week, our seniors from TOUCHpoint@Geylang Bahru embarked on a photo hunt walk at Jurong Lake Gardens with volunteers from SUSS Athletics Team. Together, they enjoyed a friendly competition to see who could find the most iconic spots. Along the way, seniors and students swapped stories, cheered one another on, and formed new friendships and meaningful connections across generations.

At TOUCH, we believe every generation has something to give and something to learn. It is always heartening to see different generations coming together to learn from and encourage one another. A heartfelt thank you to our SUSS student volunteers for your time, energy and dedication in making this outing such a memorable one for our seniors.

Celebrating 40 years of TOUCH Young Arrows (TYA)! ✨

Over the Children’s Day weekend, we commemorated TYA’s 40th anniversary through the “Dream Big” Children’s Fiesta at Marine Parade, a special collaboration with Faith Community Baptist Church (FCBC) GKidz. The fiesta brought children and families together through exciting activities and shared experiences that championed every child’s dreams and potential.

At the Partners’ Gathering and Celebration, we reflected on TYA’s journey – from seven volunteers reaching out to children at void decks in 1986 to a nationwide movement with more than 20 clubs today.

The gathering also honoured our pioneering and long-serving volunteers, community partners and supporters, who have played an important role in creating opportunities for children to learn, grow and dream big.

Our heartfelt thanks to Senior Minister of State Mr Goh Pei Ming (Goh Pei Ming), Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of Social and Family Development, for joining us and for supporting TOUCH’s work with children and families. We are also grateful to FCBC for sponsoring the fiesta and sending volunteers to support the event. Your partnership has helped make the event a meaningful and memorable celebration.

Here’s to many more years of empowering children and supporting families!

We are delighted to celebrate the official opening of TOUCHpoint@Sembawang 335, TOUCH's newest Active Ageing Centre (AAC), where seniors can connect with one another as they age well in community.

Graced by Mr Gabriel Lam, Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC (Canberra), the event brought together some 100 seniors, volunteers and AAC staff for a morning of warmth and celebration.

To commemorate the occasion, our seniors worked together to design a beach-themed artwork symbolising how individuals come together to build a strong and vibrant community.

Showcasing the spirit of seniors supporting seniors, Mr Soh, 72, and Mdm Lee, 61, both trained Boccia facilitators led our guests in a friendly game of Boccia. This inclusive sport allows seniors of all ages and abilities, including wheelchair users to enjoy a game together. Besides Boccia, our senior volunteers also hosted various interest group booths for guests to explore.

Beyond activities, the centre also offers support for health and wellbeing. Seniors can visit the Community Health Post managed by NHG Health to receive support in chronic disease management. Our CREST team also provides support to seniors who have, or are at risk of, dementia, depression and other mental health conditions.

At TOUCH, we believe every senior deserves opportunities to stay active, build meaningful connections and continue contributing in ways that bring purpose and fulfilment. We look forward to creating many more memories with our seniors at TOUCHpoint@Sembawang 335!
