Building Stronger Professional Standards Through Continuous Learning

SSACCI Chairman Dr Chinnu Palanivelu FCA recently conducted a professional training programme for 40+ professionals in accounting, audit, tax and company secretarial services.

The session covered AML/CFT developments, professional conduct, regulatory compliance and practical case studies, including lessons from the US$3 billion money-laundering scandal.

Discussions highlighted the importance of effective internal controls, proper documentation, beneficial ownership verification, professional judgement and a strong compliance culture.

The next seminar by Stamford Practitioners Academy will focus on enhancing audit quality and addressing common findings from ACRA inspections, with practical insights into audit documentation, professional scepticism, fraud risk and more.

🌏 **Strengthening Singapore–India Business Connections!**

SSACCI was pleased to be represented by our Chairman, **Dr Chinnu Palanivelu FCA**, at the inaugural Singapore–India Network for Growth (SING) Forum 2026, organised by the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), with the support of the High Commission of India in Singapore, on 5 October 2026.

The forum brought together government leaders and business representatives to explore investment opportunities, cross-border trade, payments and stronger economic cooperation between Singapore and India.

Highlights included investment presentations by the Chief Ministers of Chhattisgarh and Haryana, insights into the growing bilateral economic relationship, and discussions on facilitating business expansion into India.

The event also offered valuable networking opportunities to introduce SSACCI and discuss how we can support businesses exploring opportunities across **Singapore, India, South Asia and ASEAN**.

Exploring Business Opportunities in Singapore, ASEAN & Southeast Asia

SSACCI was pleased to be part of the **Business Entrepreneurs Meet – Meet & Greet**, organised by **Million Dollar Business Network** in Chennai on 25 September 2026.

The event brought together **50+ entrepreneurs** from different business sectors, creating opportunities to connect, exchange ideas and explore potential collaborations.

Our Chairman, **Dr. Chinnu Palanivelu FCA**, shared his perspectives on **“Expansion into Singapore, ASEAN and Southeast Asia”**, highlighting how Singapore can serve as a gateway for Indian businesses looking to establish a regional presence and explore international markets.

From technology and professional services to manufacturing, trading, finance, logistics, education, healthcare, real estate and consumer businesses, the region offers significant opportunities.

Empowering Students. Strengthening Industry–Academia Connections. 🎓🌏

SSACCI was pleased to continue its engagement with **SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli**, through a guest lecture by our Chairman, **Dr. Chinnu Palanivelu FCA**, as part of the Tech Talk Series organised by FLABS.

The session on **“Career Opportunities in MNCs & Skills Demand”** explored the changing expectations of global employers and the importance of practical skills, communication, adaptability, problem-solving and continuous learning.

The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss **industry engagement, skills development and sustainability**, including the possibility of introducing a certificate programme on sustainability.

This engagement forms part of the **SSACCI–SRM Institute of Science and Technology MoU**, reflecting our commitment to creating stronger connections between academia and industry.

Celebrating Nearly Six Years of Service to Singapore’s Giving Ecosystem

SSACCI extends its sincere appreciation to **Dr Chinnu Palanivelu FCA, Chairman of SSACCI**, for completing nearly six years on NVPC’s Audit & Risk Committee (16 December 2020 – 30 September 2026).

Since 2010, his association with NVPC’s Centre for Non-Profit Leadership has reflected a longstanding commitment to governance, organisational development and the non-profit sector.

Through its initiatives, NVPC continues to make a meaningful difference in Singapore:

🎉 **75 Years of Service, Unity and Community**

SSACCI extends its warmest congratulations to the **Tamils Representative Council (TRC)** on its 75th Anniversary – **Pavala Vizha**.

Established in 1951 under the leadership of the late Mr. G. Sarangapany and other community leaders, TRC began with a vision to bring Tamil organisations together for the advancement of the Tamil community in Singapore.

Today, TRC represents **42 affiliated organisations and more than 30,000 people**.

For 75 years, TRC has contributed to:

📚 Education and bursary support
🌱 Youth leadership and development
🪷 Tamil language and culture
🤝 Community building and collaboration
🎓 Opportunities for students and young people

Since 2000, TRC has awarded bursaries to more than **5,000 primary school students from lower-income families**. Its educational efforts continue through initiatives such as the **G. Kandasamy Education Trust Fund** and its partnership with the **Singapore Indian Education Trust (SIET)**.

The growth of the **TRC Youth Wing** also reflects the importance of preparing the next generation to lead, serve and contribute.

As TRC looks towards **TRC 100 in 2051**, its 75-year journey stands as a strong foundation for the future.

SSACCI congratulates **Mr. V. Pandiyan, the TRC leadership, affiliated organisations, volunteers, supporters and members** for their contributions to this remarkable journey.

Building Stronger Connections Between Education & Industry 🎓🌏🤝

The 13th Global Economic Summit & World Tamils Economic Conference – 2026 in Mauritius provided SSACCI with a valuable opportunity to connect with senior representatives from leading universities and educational institutions.

SSACCI Chairman Dr. Chinnu Palanivelu FCA met senior representatives from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) and INTI International University, Malaysia to explore opportunities where education, business and industry can work together.

Among those he met were:

SSACCI was pleased to engage with government representatives, elected representatives and community leaders from **Tamil Nadu and Mauritius** during the **13th Global Economic Summit & World Tamils Economic Conference**, held from 11–13 September 2026 in Mauritius.

During the conference, **Dr. Chinnu Palanivelu FCA, Chairman, SSACCI**, met **Mr. Rajmohan, Hon’ble Minister for School Education, Tamil Development, Information and Publicity, Tamil Nadu**, and presented him with the book **“முதல்வர் விஜய்யின் வெற்றி வரலாறு”**.

The discussion also included experiences of engaging with the Tamil diaspora in Singapore and the strong connections between Tamil Nadu, Singapore and the wider global Tamil community.

Dr. Chinnu also met **Mr. Thamimun Ansari, Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and General Secretary of Manithaneya Jananayaga Katchi**, to exchange views on strengthening business and community connections.

In Mauritius, he had the opportunity to meet **Mr. Rajen Narsinghen, Hon’ble Junior Minister for Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Government of Mauritius**, gaining valuable insights into Mauritius’ potential as a gateway for regional and international business.

These engagements strengthen SSACCI’s efforts to connect **businesses, entrepreneurs, professionals, government representatives, chambers and community organisations** across Singapore, India, South Asia, ASEAN, Mauritius and Africa.
