Our MCS Story! Now Available Online 📖✨

At the MCS Charity Dinner held on 5 July 2025, our commemorative publication “Our MCS Story” was officially launched by our Guest of Honour, MP Eric Chua.

This booklet is more than just a record; it’s a reflection of our collective journey, from humble temple-led service to a growing community charity dedicated to food distribution, legal aid, prison counselling, senior support, marriage preparation, and much more.

It also features heartfelt messages from our leaders, inspiring stories from volunteers and beneficiaries, and a deeper look into the work MCS continues to do with your support.

📣 Calling all compassionate individuals! 🙏

We are seeking dedicated volunteers for a noble cause who will make a profound difference in the lives of incarcerated Hindus in Changi Prison. As the number of male and female inmates on the programme continues to grow, we need your support to provide essential spiritual counseling and invaluable companionship during their confinement.

🌟 Spiritual Counselling:
Join us on weekends for a few hours of service within the prison walls. Under the guidance of experienced volunteers, you will have the opportunity to conduct prayers, lead bhajans, and share simple discourses on Hinduism. This spiritual counselling will help uplift the hearts and minds of our fellow Hindu inmates, fostering hope, inner peace, and personal growth.

🌺 Befriending Service:
Extend your support beyond prison walls and become a beacon of hope for Hindu inmates who are preparing for their release. Through E-letters, phone calls, or personal visits, you will establish meaningful connections with these individuals, offering friendship, empathy, and guidance. Your presence will play a vital role in their successful reintegration into society.

🙌 Training Provided:
Don't worry if you're new! We offer comprehensive training, free of charge, to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge. Whether it's understanding the intricacies of spiritual counselling or building a compassionate rapport with former inmates, we will ensure you are fully prepared to make a positive impact.

Sharing a post by the Singapore Prison Service on MCS's recent initiative to provide befriending services to newly released inmates under the Throughcare Volunteer Framework ("TVF")

In April 2021, Muneeswaran Community Services (MCS) partnered with the Singapore Prison Service (SPS) to provide befriending services to newly released inmates under the Throughcare Volunteer Framework (TVF). They provide a listening ear and guidance to the ex-offenders to ease their reintegration into the community.

One of these volunteers is Ms B Thanabavany Naidu, who is passionate about helping others in the community.

On her experience as a befriender, she recounts, “I always listen to them and try to understand the issue from their perspective. As a befriender, my goal is to motivate the ex-offenders to break free from the mistakes of their past and build a positive relationship with their family and community.”

MCS also provides social services to ex-offenders such as assisting with referrals for financial or employment assistance, providing spiritual counselling and welfare aid for their families.

By providing aftercare support to ex-offenders through the collaboration of SPS’ community partners and volunteers, we can break the cycle of offending and reoffending to keep Singapore safe and secure!
