A social service agency in Singapore working to restore hope to the displaced and disadvantaged. A year later, New Hope Community Services (NHCS) was born.

Our work first began in 2003 when four homeless men approached Pastor Andrew (our Founder & CEO) seeking refuge. We currently run four transitional shelters around Singapore and provide various services and programmes that help our clients break out of the poverty cycle and achieve long term financial resilience and independence. Our Vision:
To be a beacon of New Hope to the displaced and disadvantaged in the community. Our Mission:

Thinking about a career where your work can positively impact individuals, families and communities?

The Social Service Tribe Study Award, offered by partnering social service agencies and supported by the National Council of Social Service (NCSS), provides students in qualifying courses with the opportunity to pursue their studies while building a meaningful career in the social service sector.

As a partnering agency, New Hope Community Services is looking for passionate individuals who want to turn their desire to help others into a career with purpose.

Who can apply?
The Study Award is open to eligible Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents intending to take up citizenship who are:
• Full-time undergraduate or postgraduate students at a recognised local institution
• Pursuing a qualifying course of study
• Not currently employed full-time
• Not receiving another scholarship or sponsorship
• Willing to serve a bond with the sponsoring social service agency after graduation

What does the award offer?
Eligible students can receive support towards their studies, with full-term and mid-term study awards available depending on the course and stage of study.

More importantly, this is an opportunity to gain a pathway into the social service sector. Upon completion of your studies, awardees will join the social service agency that sponsors them.

Celebrating Together, Inspiring Together!

At New Hope, our quarterly Inform & Inspire sessions are a time for us to come together, reconnect with our shared vision and values, celebrate one another, and grow stronger as one team.

This month, we came together to observe Singapore’s National Day 🇸🇬✨, standing in support of our nation and giving thanks for the home we are privileged to be part of.

We also celebrated our colleagues who reached the 5-Year Long Service milestone — thank you for your dedication and commitment!

Stay ready, stay safe. 🚒

Earlier this month, 20 residents from JSS-OR B*W and WLL took part in SCDF’s Responders Plus Programme at Bukit Batok Fire Station.

Through hands-on training in first aid, CPR-AED, the Heimlich manoeuvre and basic firefighting, our residents picked up practical skills to stay prepared and respond confidently in an emergency.

A meaningful reminder that being prepared can make a difference when it matters most.

Two weeks ago, 16 volunteers from the **DHL Team** joined us at TP@YCK to give two transitional housing units a fresh new look. 🎨🏠

What looked like a simple painting session turned into an afternoon of teamwork, adaptability, and plenty of helping hands.

One unit required multiple coats to cover heavily stained walls, while the other—a larger family unit—meant more furniture to move and much more wall space to paint. Whether they were experienced painters or first-timers, everyone stepped up, found their rhythm, and worked together to transform the spaces.

A big thank you to our Client Engagement Team for preparing the materials, coordinating across both units, and keeping everything running smoothly throughout the day.

These freshly painted units will soon become homes for individuals and families rebuilding their lives. Every brushstroke helped create a space where new beginnings can take shape.

Today, we celebrate not just our nation's birthday, but also the people and communities that make Singapore home.

Across our New Hope centres, residents are coming together to mark the occasion with lively Zumba sessions, nostalgic old-school games, National Day crafts, and heartfelt sing-alongs. It's a celebration of joy, connection, and belonging—because home is made even more meaningful when it's shared with others.

Turning Inclusive Hiring into Collective Action 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

New Hope Employment Services recently brought together 21 participants, including partners from MSF and SBFF, for a meaningful session on turning inclusive hiring commitments into action.

Throughout the session, speakers and partners shared valuable perspectives on cross-sector collaboration, building inclusive workplace cultures and creating meaningful employment opportunities. Participants also gained practical insights through the Inclusive Hiring Playbook and an overview of the funding support and training grants available to employers.

The participants also took part in a guided shelter tour offering a deeper understanding of the realities faced by individuals experiencing homelessness, while offering valuable insight into their lived experiences and journeys towards greater stability and independence.

The session concluded with a simple but powerful call to action:
Open one opportunity. Remove one barrier. Appoint one champion.

Small actions can create meaningful pathways towards employment, stability and belonging.

Together, we can create workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to contribute, grow and belong.
