The picture was taken in Prev Veng Cambodia around 2008.
The investment we made was for the Christian NGO to buy 50 ducklings for a social enterprise. A poor villager would take out these ducklings to the Mekong river to feed everyday for 6 months. At the end of that time, the ducklings would have grown to be ducks and the villager would sell everything, repay the loan and use the profit to buy ducklings to start the process again except that this time he kept the profit. This in its essence is missional business and Christian impact investments. Using business to impact society in a positive way for Christ.
What we are trying to do with BMN is to create a network to facilitate more of such missional businesses and ministries. The ultimate goal, as in all things, is found in Matthew 5:16 “…let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
