Mental health recovery does not follow a fixed path. Some begin with rebuilding everyday routines. Others thrive with support in the community, or guidance as they prepare for work.

Through a wide range of mental health services, Singapore Anglican Community Services (SACS) supports clients at different stages of recovery.

A group of staff and clients from SACS Integrated Employment Services came together to prepare more than 120 lovely bouquets for healthcare staff, as part of our Nurses' Day celebrations. This was a meaningful opportunity for our clients to learn practical vocational skills while giving back to others.

We wish all nurses across SAMH and SACS a Happy Nurses' Day! May you continue to find joy and purpose in the invaluable work that you do, and know that you are deeply appreciated 💐

Journeying with youth

Mr Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Digital Development and Information, and Ministry of Health, officially opened SACS’ first youth mental health centre for youth 👏🏻

The Pathfinders team at Anglican Youth Centre (Sengkang) offers activities, workshops and counselling for youths aged 12 to 25 in the northeast region. AYC (Sengkang) is our latest milestone in SACS' longstanding experience in community mental health care, strengthening existing outreach efforts under AIC's CREST-Youth initiative. We thank all community partners, schools, parents and youths who came today, especially the talented youth who performed original plays and energetic pieces.

We always say that our team is like a family, but for Jerry Canoza, Senior Health Care Assistant, and Sharylette, Health Care Assistant, they are literally family. The father-and-daughter duo work alongside each other to provide care and assist with programmes for our clients at Anglican Care Centre (Simei), but it wasn’t always like that. Coming to Singapore to work 22 years ago meant that Jerry had to leave Sharylette’s side, but now, they have every day to catch up with each other while creating new memories.

“Even though he missed my birthdays, my graduations and we just celebrated our small wins through a phone screen, he never missed being my dad. And I’m proud of him because he traded his presence so he could give us a better life,” shared Sharylette.

Happy Father’s Day! Whether near or far, we can count on them to always be there for us. ♥️

From a public health administrator to the Group CEO of one of the largest healthcare and social services agencies in Singapore, and now (concurrently) an ordained minister, Rev Dr Arthur Chern shares how faith and community service can come together.

He testifies of God's guidance and empowerment in his journey, especially during the early years of his leadership, when SAMH and SACS were in financial deficit and could not even pay staff bonuses. Instead of scaling down services, Rev Dr Chern made a bold decision to strategically pivot into eldercare. “The way...is not to scale down but to scale up to what God wants you to do. Then the blessing will come."

Today, SAMH and SACS serve over 65,000 people annually through 46 centres, with another 4 nursing homes and 1 special education school upcoming. Read the full interview with saltandlight.sg here:
