🎉 Over the past few Saturdays, the Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors’ Award (TKKYIA) came alive as young innovators from the Junior Student, Student, Senior Student, and Open categories gathered to present their inventions to our panel of judges.

Throughout the interview sessions, Tan Kah Kee Foundation Chairman, Mr Lawrence Tan, together with TKKYIA Chairman, Professor Wong Lim Soon, joined us over several weekends to meet and encourage the participants, witnessing firsthand the passion, creativity, and dedication behind each invention. 👏

From tackling real-world challenges to creating practical solutions that make everyday life better, every presentation reflected the ingenuity and determination of our young inventors. 💡✨ We were truly inspired by the incredible ideas and the confidence each participant brought to the interview room.

A heartfelt thank you to our esteemed judges for generously sharing their time and expertise, A*STAR for hosting the interview sessions, and our amazing volunteers from River Valley High School for their enthusiasm and support in ensuring the interviews ran smoothly. ❤️

On 24 July 2026, the Tan Kah Kee Foundation hosted its annual Scholars’ Networking Session.
The evening began with Professor Eugene Tan, Chairman of the Scholarship Committee, warmly welcoming the Foundation’s scholars and donors, setting the tone for an evening of fellowship, networking and meaningful conversations.

In his address, Chairman Mr Lawrence Tan shared that the annual Scholars’ Networking Session has become a meaningful tradition, providing a platform for scholars from different years, professions and disciplines to reconnect, exchange ideas, build lasting friendships, and strengthen the enduring bonds within the Foundation’s scholarship community.

Mr Lawrence also emphasised that the Foundation’s bond-free scholarships are built on trust rather than obligation. While scholars are never expected to repay the Foundation, he encouraged them to give back in their own meaningful ways, through mentoring younger scholars, sharing their professional expertise, volunteering at Foundation activities, creating opportunities for others, or supporting future generations of scholars when they are able.

A special highlight of the evening was the presence of Mr Hoong Ling Kuan, one of the earliest Tan Kah Kee scholarship recipients in the 1970s and a generous donor. In sharing his reflections, Mr Hoong spoke about the importance of 饮水思源, a Chinese proverb that reminds us to remember our roots and those who have supported us along the way. He encouraged fellow scholars to cherish the opportunities they have received and to pay them forward by supporting future generations.

As the Foundation looks ahead to its 45th Anniversary, the annual Scholars’ Networking Session continues to strengthen the lifelong bonds within the Tan Kah Kee Foundation family. United by the values of Mr Tan Kah Kee, the Foundation remains committed to promoting education, nurturing talent, and serving society while inspiring each generation of scholars to carry this legacy forward.

🎉 Celebrating excellence, perseverance, and the spirit of lifelong learning. 🎓

On 29 July 2026, the Tan Kah Kee Foundation proudly awarded scholarships to 36 outstanding recipients—🎓 11 Postgraduate Scholars and 🌱 25 Lifelong Learning Scholars—at our annual Scholarship Award Ceremony held at ITE College Central.

We were privileged to welcome Mr Edwin Tong, Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs, as our Guest of Honour. He was warmly received by the Foundation’s Chairman, Mr Lawrence Tan, Chairman of the Scholarship Committee, Professor Eugene Tan, and members of the Foundation’s Board before officiating at the ceremony.

In Minister Tong’s inspiring address, he shared that a scholarship is much more than financial assistance—it is an opportunity to grow, pursue excellence, realise one's potential, and ultimately give back to society. 🌟 Reflecting on the Foundation's more than four decades of scholarship giving, he highlighted how every scholar creates a lasting ripple effect that benefits future generations.

Minister Tong also emphasised the importance of lifelong learning, echoing the timeless Chinese saying, “活到老，学到老” 📚—a value that continues to guide our scholars throughout their personal and professional journeys.💙

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our generous donors and representatives for their steadfast support and presence at the ceremony: Ms Peggy Tan, Mdm Lee Poh Choo, Mr Ng Chee Hwa, representatives from the Li Siong Tay Foundation, Tan Ean Kiam Foundation, and Mdm Doreen Liu.
