Last weekend, Catholic Welfare Services was honoured by Yellow Ribbon Project as an Advocate of Second Chances (Donors & Funders) - a recognition of organisations supporting the reintegration of ex-offenders into society.

This award reflects our contributions to the STAR Bursary Fund and Industrial and Services Co-operative Society (ISCOS)’ Skills Assistance Subsidy Scheme through our Emmanuel Second Chance Education Fund (ESCE). Since 2023, we’ve supported 94 individuals in pursuing academic studies and vocational training - helping them rebuild confidence, skills, and stability.

With our partnership renewed through 2026, we aim to support up to 200 individuals over three years - opening more doors to employment, dignity, and a fresh start.

We remain committed to journeying with communities in need, and to creating real second chances that transform lives - for individuals, families, and society as a whole.

Today marks 67 years since Catholic Welfare Services was founded.

What began as a simple mission - to journey with communities in need, to care, serve, and uplift - continues today through the people who make it possible.

To our residents and clients, families, staff, volunteers, donors, and partners - thank you for being part of this journey. We’re grateful for your unwavering trust and support in carrying out our mission of service.

Here’s to 67 years of journeying with those in need, and making a difference together!

Strumming Up a Storm 🎶

Last week, our residents from St Vincent Home were delighted to embark on a unique art-meets-music journey. They visited a ukulele centre where they learnt the basics of playing, and also painted and decorated their very own ukuleles - each one a personal creation they could take home and continue playing.

It was a lively and exciting session, with our residents joyfully expressing both their inner artist and musician. The experience continued back at the Home, where our staff guided them through further sessions of play.

A joyful blend of art and music, the sessions brought smiles and cheer, and helped many rediscover their love for music.
