Former Names:
Persatuan Khairat Arab St
Persatuan Kematian Arab St
Persekutuan Kebajikan Kematian
Founded in 1925 and initially known as the Persatuan Khairat Arab Street, the organisation only looked after the members living in that area. They began to expand to other areas after they changed their name. In the 1950s, the name was changed to Persatuan Kemajuan Kebajikan Islam (PKKI), a name whic
h remains till today. PKKI is one of the five existing Malay/Muslim Mutual Benefit Organisation (MBO) to survive World War II and has come a long way since they first established to help their members. Unfortunately, a lot of their history went missing due to numerous shifting of office. (Information extracted and summarised from the book Khairat Kita)
