The Spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defense of the Kingdom of Cambodia would like to inform the general public and the international community that, according to received information at 10:49 a.m. on 3 August 2025, the Thai military, in cooperation with Thai authorities, has instructed its remaining civilians in the border area of Surin Province to evacuate by tonight.
The same sources also confirmed that the Thai military plans to launch attacks along the border starting from the Tamone Thom Temple, Ta Krabey Temple, Preah Vihear Temple, up to the Anseh area. These attacks are expected to commence soon, prior to the scheduled meeting of the Extraordinary Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) on 7 August 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This planned offensive constitutes a violation of the territorial sovereignty of Cambodia before the GBC meeting, and it is a serious breach of the ceasefire agreement mutually agreed upon by both countries on 28 July 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, with Malaysia, the United States, and China as witnesses.

Cambodia appeals to the international community to help prevent this at all costs and urges the Thai side to immediately stop its planned aggression, if this information is true, and to respect the ceasefire agreement fully for the sake of peace and stability along the border areas of both countries and the entire region.

Thailand’s armed invasion of Cambodia has forced 10,865 Cambodian families—approximately 37,635 people—living along the border areas in Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, and Pursat provinces to evacuate to safe locations. These evacuees include children, pregnant women, and the elderly. The invading Thai forces had a clear plan and had premeditated their aggressive actions against the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

As a small country, Cambodia has always carried deep scars from our past. And now, we are once again being threatened. We are being invaded. And we do not deserve this. But even in the face of danger, I am proud. Proud of our soldiers. Proud of our people. While we sleep safely in our homes, our brave army is out there defending our borders — risking their lives so we can live ours. They are not just protecting land. They’re protecting our dignity, our future, our right to exist in peace.

To the Cambodian military: thank you. You are our shield. Our pride. Our heroes.

To Siam: We are peaceful, but we are not to be messed with.

To everyone: this news is anxiety-inducing. It’s scary. Please stay informed and only trust real, verified sources. Now more than ever, we need to be a united front as Cambodians.

We urgently call on the United Nations and ASEAN to take action and bring justice for Cambodia. We deserve to live in peace.

[Op-ed] In a blatant act of military aggression that threatens peace and stability in Southeast Asia, Thai armed forces launched an unprovoked assault against Cambodian troops stationed near the sacred Ta Mone Thom and Ta Krabey temples in Banteay Meanchey province — well within Cambodia’s internationally recognised borders. The attack, which occurred on the morning of July 24, sparked intense clashes along the Cambodia–Thailand border in Oddar Meanchey province.
