- PURPLE PARADE PERFORMANCE -

This year’s Purple Parade had a different meaning for us at KMS Mission as Christie made her first-ever contribution to the event through a solo performance!

She performed “Let’s Be Friends,” an original song written by her dad Roy, who also accompanied her beautifully on the guitar. The song speaks about the genuine desire for friendship and is a reminder that people with special needs, just like everyone else, long for connection, understanding, and acceptance.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the friends, families, and supporters who came down to cheer her on. Your presence made the moment even more special, and we’re so glad the music and lyrics of the song resonated with so many.

- MUSIC & DANCE GET-TOGETHER -

In August, friends and family came together for a heartwarming Music and Dance Get-Together, where 10 children and youths showcased their wonderful talents and passion! It was a beautiful mix of performers comprising individuals with special needs and neurotypical peers sharing the same stage.

Some sang their hearts out while others danced with joy, cheered on by family and friends who filled the room with encouragement and applause. The Music & Dance Get-Together provided a safe and supportive space for our children and youths to express themselves freely, especially for those who love performing but may feel too shy or lack opportunities to do so in public. It was truly heartwarming to see everyone blossom with confidence and joy, both on stage and in the audience! 💜

We’re also thrilled to share that Christie, and Mackenzia and her brother Abenzio will be performing at this year’s Purple Parade on 25th October at about 5.15pm and 2pm respectively. Head on down to cheer for them and show your support for the inclusion movement! Together, let’s celebrate diversity, empower voices, and continue building a kinder, more inclusive Singapore!
