It has been fulfilling and exciting for the past few months! SingAREN has hosted numerous workshops for our Research and Education community.

We will like to extend a heartfelt thank you for attending our SingAREN 20th Anniversary event on 5 Dec 2023. Your presence has made it a memorable and meaningful chapter, for the celebration of SingAREN's 20-year journey.

With SingAREN’s inception as a non-profit society since 2003, SingAREN has remained true to its core mission to serve the Research and Education community in Singapore . Throughout its 20-year journey, SingAREN has continued to provide local and international networks and services dedicated for serving the Research and Education community in Singapore.

During the event, SingAREN presented a Posthumous Award to Emeritus Professor Lawrence W.C. Wong, who co-founded SingAREN in 1997. For over two decades, Professor Lawrence Wong was greatly dedicated and passionate in leading SingAREN. We are very grateful to Professor Lawrence Wong, for his unwavering leadership and contributions to SingAREN.

SingAREN will also like to extend our appreciation to:

- Our partners for their valuable contributions of domain knowledge and resources, for establishing SingAREN Lightwave Internet Exchange (SLIX).
- Our technology partners for their valuable contributions for network and technology solutions in establishing SingAREN Lightwave Internet Exchange (SLIX).

NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS Medicine) and National University Hospital (NUH) collaborated with Fujita Health University (FHU) in its first robotic telesurgery trial between Singapore and Japan, from 9 to 11 October 2023.

SingAREN, with international and local partners, is pleased to enable this remote robot telesurgery trial between Japan and Singapore.

Leveraging Japan’s first surgical robot, Professor Jimmy So and Asst Prof Kim Guowei from the Department of Surgery at are part of the team performing a gastrectomy remotely from a surgeon cockpit, while the robotic operation unit replicating their movement, is in Nagoya, Japan, 5000 km away. This is the first robotic telesurgery trial between Singapore and Japan, a collaboration between and NUH, with Fujita Health University.
