"How can I help you?" | Seniors

As part of their Secondary 2 VIA efforts, Naval Base Secondary School invites seniors from different centres in Yishun to their school! 🏫

The students hosted the seniors and organised various programmes tailored to the seniors’ interests. These sessions provided meaningful opportunities for conversation, fostering greater understanding across generations. The students came to realise that the seniors are not so different from themselves, while the seniors enjoyed reminiscing about their childhood days, adding joy and connection to the experience. 💗

Connecting the Kampung | 18th Kopi Session

3 weeks ago, the Yishun Kampung woke up bright and early to gather at Ground-Up Initiative (GUI) space for a networking session. ☀️

Armed with teh and toast from Kopi Siew Dai, we brainstormed about what can be done to better support the Kampung and put on our thinking caps to identify gaps on the ground that can be addressed with volunteer-centric solutions! We were honoured to have Advisers Goh Hanyan 吴函燕 and Lee Hui Ying 李蕙莹 joined the meaningful discussions as well! 💞

"Making Yishun famous… for the right reasons" | Socially Isolated Seniors

The team has been giving talks to active ageing centres, encouraging senior members to volunteer for the community. 🤩

Through the talks, seniors find out more about the needs and volunteering opportunities near where they live. The team also had the chance to better understand the kind of volunteering programmes seniors would like to participate in. It has been a very informative time for all! 💞

"How can I help you?" | Environment

Every 3rd Sunday of the month from 8am to 10am, volunteers from all walks of life come down to Nee Soon East and contribute to the building of the community farm.

The environment is nurturing 🌱 - plants are looked after with extreme care and love, volunteers are guided and gently encouraged to try things out of their comfort zone. A farm and community blooms under the heart work of the volunteers 💖.
