Sometimes, inclusion starts with knowing what to say, what to do, and when to simply give someone space.

Our engagement at Bedok Green Secondary School allowed students to discover more about what it means to advocate for Assistance Dog handlers. Beyond the session itself, we were heartened to see students step forward to support our outreach booth and share what they had learnt with others.

Our youth are not just recipients of awareness. They can become the ones who carry it forward, influencing how their friends, families and communities better understand disability and Assistance Dogs.

The more people who know, the easier it becomes for handlers and their Assistance Dogs to feel at ease in the spaces they navigate every day.

Happy Birthday to our beloved Ambassador Assistance Dog! 🎂🐾💜

As the heart of our outreach and charity, our Ambassador Assistance Dog plays an important role in bringing Assistance Dog awareness to life. From schools and workplaces to community events, she helps people see firsthand how Assistance Dogs can support and empower Persons with Disabilities.

Through demonstrating Assistance Dog tasks, she is also helping pave the way for greater understanding of what her future Mobility Assistance Dog and Hearing Dog PAW-friends can do for their handlers.

Here’s to another year of good health, happy adventures and many more PAWsome moments inspiring a more inclusive Singapore!

Feel free to wish her down in the comments below! 💜🐾

An important step forward for Assistance Dog access in Singapore. The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has announced that, from 1 November 2026, Mobility Assistance Dogs and Hearing Dogs will be permitted to enter retail food businesses, building on the current provisions for Seeing-Eye Dogs.

For K9Assistance, this is also an important point in our ongoing work to advance Assistance Dog access, which has included sustained engagement with Government agencies, the disability community, community partners, businesses and supporters.

Meaningful public access is about independence, dignity and participation. For this progress to be meaningful in everyday life, food establishments will need to be informed, prepared and welcoming, fellow patrons should respond with understanding and consideration, and Assistance Dog teams will continue to uphold high standards in public spaces.

We are grateful to everyone whose perspectives, expertise, engagement and support have helped advance this broader effort. There is still more work ahead, including our continuing work with LTA and other Government partners on public transport access for Assistance Dog teams.

What makes an Assistance Dog different from other working dogs? And why is it important to give them space to do their job?

These were some of the conversations we brought to Bukit View Primary School, where students explored the different roles Assistance Dogs play and what it means to share public spaces respectfully with Assistance Dog teams.

Understanding the difference is more than just knowing what an Assistance Dog does. It is also about extending kindness to handlers, respecting their independence, and knowing when to give them the space they need. A little more understanding can make everyday spaces a lot more welcoming.

Thank you, Bukit View Primary School, for having K9Assistance! Interested in bringing an Assistance Dog awareness session to your school? DM us or email us at [email protected] to find out more about our school outreach programmes.

Awareness can begin with something as simple as setting aside time to learn, ask questions, and better understand the experiences of Persons with Disabilities and their Assistance Dogs.

With special arrangements by the Bloomberg team, K9Assistance was grateful to join the DRW Singapore office for an engaging session with the DRW team. Staff learnt more about Assistance Dogs and the work that goes into their training and placement. The session also included a hands-on Dog Bone Crafting Activity, allowing staff members to get involved while learning more about the work that goes into supporting Assistance Dog teams.

Every conversation and moment of learning helps build greater understanding. Together, we can work towards communities where handlers and their Assistance Dogs feel supported and welcomed in more spaces.

Thank you to both the DRW and Bloomberg teams for spending time with us and being part of the journey towards greater awareness and inclusion!
