A small nudge can make a big difference. šŸ’™

On 3rd May, Passion To Serve conducted a unique Resume/CV Building Workshop for migrant workers at Sembawang Recreation Centre. In a hands-on, one-on-one format, workers were guided by an expert recruitment consultant to build, refine, and strengthen their CVs - equipping them with a vital tool to pursue better employment opportunities.

What made the session truly special was the personal attention each participant received. Every CV was thoughtfully reviewed, with practical, actionable feedback tailored to individual experiences and aspirations.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms Sharbani Dutta, a UWCSEA East School parent, for generously dedicating her Sunday to this effort. Her patience, expertise, and genuine care made a meaningful impact on every worker she interacted with.

Sometimes, all it takes is a little guidance to open new doors. 🌱

We are deeply grateful to the Singapore President's Office for inviting Passion To Serve to what was a truly special day at the Istana on 19th April during the Open House for us and the twenty migrant workers who absolutely loved it.

For many of the workers who joined us, this was their first time visiting the Istana. From exploring the beautiful grounds to taking part in the activities, the day was filled with excitement, curiosity, and joy, as well as a chance to be recognised for all their hard work.

The workers also got an opportunity to see our President Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, making the experience even more special.

What stood out most, however, was the pride and happiness as the workers shared photos and memories with their families back home. A simple experience, but one that created a lasting sense of connection and belonging to Singapore.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Istana Open House organising team, especially Adeline, for making this possible.

Passion To Serve got another opportunity to put the middle R of the R3 Framework of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle into action with another GIFTIK (Gift-In-Kind) session in support of UN's SDG Goal #12: Responsible Consumption and Production.

Passion To Serve volunteers collected pre-loved items from the generous donors from various condominiums in Singapore and distributed them to the migrant workers at Penjuru Recreation Centre on 29th March Sunday. This particular GIFTIK event attracted as many as 2000 migrant workers from nearby dormitories - one of the largest footfall we have ever seen at such an event.

A huge thank you to all the donors, especially HubSpot and its benevolent employees for your generous contributions to the collection drive.

GIFTIK would not have been possible without the tireless work of our incredible volunteers - cannot thank you enough for your compassion and laborious but valuable contribution towards creating countless smiles.

Tiring but deeply rewarding!

Passion To Serve conducted another session of much sought-after GITFIK (Gift-In-Kind) event for distributing pre-loved items to migrant workers in Singapore.

Used and new Items were collected from generous donors for distribution to migrant workers at Penjuru Recreation Centre on 16th Nov 2025. It saw a turn out of as many as 1400 worker brothers from nearby dormitories.

Big thanks to all our Donors from various Condos for their overwhelming donations. Also thanks to all our volunteers for their laborious but valuable contribution towards sorting, arranging, serving an item and serving a smile to the workers.

A big shout out to NTUC Singapore MWRC for seamlessly supporting the event.

Passion To Serve is glad to announce the results of the recently conducted Singapore National Day Essay Writing Competition for migrant workers and domestic helpers.

Thank you to all the participants for sharing your personal journey with us through this unique competition – many essays were overwhelming and insightful – but at the end, it was a pleasure to hear about your beautiful association with Singapore – truly an encouragement for all of us towards greater social inclusion and national integration in the true Singapore spirit (and also towards improving our English language skills 😊).

Few snippets from the essays:

• ā€œAnd I informed my family that the treatment, sincerity, and kindness I'm receiving here wouldn't have been possible in Bangladesh. The generosity of the Singapore government truly surprised us.ā€
• ā€œSingapore, You are family. You gave me strength when I was weak, hope when I was lost. And for that, you will always be my second home.Love you Singaporeā€
• ā€œSingapore taught me that true friendship doesn’t depend on where you’re from, what language you speak, or what job you do.ā€
• ā€œONE thing i realize when i working here, if u have an opportunity to learn especially its free and its convenient for you grab it and learnā€
• ā€œeven homesickness cannot stop me, in pursuing my dream for my family, even it so hard to work far away from homeā€
• ā€œThen , one day I found out my father passed away , I was shattered . That's probably the hardest part of working overseas. When your loved one is passing and you're not even there to be with them on their last days .ā€
• ā€œIt was like something inside me broke. I had been shielded from the truth all that time. It hadn’t crossed my mind, not even once, that he might already be gone.ā€
• ā€œI can say I’m so blessed cause they treat me not just a helper but as a family member, I what food they eat I will eat too, they give me all my freedom, to do my work and let me rest when I’m tired.ā€
• ā€œIf someone were to ask me today, ā€œWhat’s your dream country?ā€ I would answer without hesitation: Singapore. Not only because of its stunning skyline and world-class systems, but because of the people—the Singaporeans who have shown me warmth, respect, and a sense of belonging.ā€
