📢 SOSG National Athletics Competition 2026 – Postponement Notice

The safety and well-being of our athletes always come first. ❤️

Due to the worsening haze conditions, Special Olympics Singapore made the difficult decision to postpone the SOSG National Athletics Competition 2026 to safeguard the health and welfare of our athletes.

While the competition may be postponed, the spirit of giving continues! 💙 We were grateful for the opportunity to share the 240 bento lunches originally prepared for our event with our migrant worker friends from Chiu Teng Construction. What was meant to fuel our athletes’ day became a small gesture of appreciation for the workers who contribute so much to our community. 🥰

Sometimes, plans change, but kindness never goes to waste. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the track when conditions are safe!

One Team 🤜🏼🤛🏼

In Unified Sports, one of the hallmarks of Special Olympics, people with and without intellectual disabilities train and compete together, on the same team and on equal terms, with a few rules adapted along the way... A real model of inclusion, one that can be carried into every area of society.

At Santiago 2027, the next edition of the World Games, 14 of the 23 sports will be played in this format. 💪🏼⚽🏀🏐

Meet Hadbaa, a student at MINDS Woodlands Gardens School!

When she first started playing bocce, Hadbaa was a shy young participant discovering movement and play. With regular training and encouragement, she grew more confident, focused and independent, gradually progressing from learning the basics to competing internationally.

Today, she is a determined young athlete who works hard and believes in herself. She loves playing bocce with her friends, has grown more comfortable expressing herself, and has found a community through training and competitions.

And this January, all that practice took her to Chennai, where she represented Singapore at the Asia Pacific Down Syndrome Games and won gold in Junior Doubles Bocce. 🥇🇸🇬

Her journey made us think of another young athlete we’ll be meeting at MINDS Film Festival this September. In Super Wang Wang, Wang Wang discovers an unexpected talent for speed skating and sets his sights on the Special Olympics. ⛸️ Different sport, different story, but both remind us what can happen when someone discovers something they love and is given the space to pursue it.

🎬 Catch Super Wang Wang at MINDS Film Festival 2026.
🎟️ Free admission. Reserve your seats at mindsfilmfest.com
